I am undertaking an appeal of our rv personal property tax in CT. Our municipality property tax on the 2007 Tour Master is approximately $3,900 annually. This is in addition to the normal DMV yearly registration fee. Is there a web site or reference place where I can access "sold" prices rather than "selling" prices? This would be extremely helpful and I thank you.

Are you saying that it costs 3900.00 per year for tax on your rv?

If you're a registered member on eBay, you can search auctions that have ended to see what the article sold for.

I am looking to buy property in Georgia that has the same practice.
The real estate deals there are unbelievable but I am still hedging about it because of what it will cost me for the 2 vehicles and my MH.

It is my understanding that they will not budge from using the blue NADA book to determine the fees. It will take a several years for that organization to reflect the dropping prices in RV's and Cars.

If you know anyone that sells cars ask them for a copy of their 'black' book. This is a wholesale book that comes out monthly to the dealerships and it reflects the 'current values' of vehicles. You could try presenting that to the county. Good Luck.

I just probated a will and a late model motor home was involved. The court appraised it at twice its real life value today. I was able, through an attorney, to get it adjusted to half of what they appraised it at. No the attorney did not cost me as much as I saved. I had him hired any way for other purposes.

CT ain't that big. Move 50 miles away and live in another state. The economics of a longer commute might offset the reduced tax burden. These taxing authorities better realize that we are on wheels and can move.

Wait till you get your new registration fee bill, my brother Kalifornian. I bought a new MH in December. I may have to rob banks to pay for that registration when it comes due again. Oh, I forgot, banks are broke.
