Just got back from a week at North Beach Camp Resort in St. Augustine, FL, and thought I'd give my impressions in case anyone was thinking of going there.

First off, we LOVED it. Gorgeous campground. And for Florida, we had an unbelievable amount of shade and privacy. Here's a couple of shots of our site and the campground in general.

Here's the "street" our site was on:

Here's a typical pull through:

Here's a couple of shots of our site, site #9:

This was the wall that separated us from our neighbors on one side. The other side was pretty much identical.

Here's the main road through the campground:

You can see it's a pretty nice place to be. It's very close to the beach (walking distance), full hookups on every site, cable, good water pressure and nice pool and just a few miles (3 or 4) from downtown St. Augustine. Also, I forgot to mention that since it's located on a barrier island, you have the Atlantic Ocean on one side of you and the intercoastal waterway on the other.

The only drawbacks were the WiFi was really only available in the office and the bath houses are in need of a serious update with didn't really bother us since we had a full hookup we didn't use the bath house at all. I just stuck my head in a couple of them to be able to report on them. Also, the jacuzzi was ICE cold. They had a sign posted that it wasn't working properly, so I assume that they're going to be fixing it soon.

All in all, we had a FANTASTIC time at this campground and I highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning here sooner rather than later. Not only is the campground great, but St. Augustine is a remarkable place to enjoy yourself.

D'oh! Sorry about that fla-gypsy. I totally forgot about the cost. I think we payed about $36 a night. It's a little more than I wanted, but EASILY worth it. I would have paid quite a bit more to stay at this campground. We really enjoyed it.

On their Web site I saw a picture of a kid and his dog on the beach. Do you know is dogs are allowed on this section of beach?

We also loved North Beach Camp Resort....and yes, we took our dogs on the beach...that was a couple of years ago, I assume they are still allowed on the beach.

There were several people with dogs on the beach this week, so I'm sure it's still allowed.

We stayed there a couple of years ago. I pretty much agree with OP. You really need to be careful with a bigger 5th wheel....tree limbs everywhere. I think I had the exact spot depicted and it was a real bear to back the 27' rig into. I don't think I could get my present rig into this spot. We did take the dogs onto the beach after crossing a busy highway so be careful.

Thanks to all for the info on the dogs. May give them a try the next time we are in the area.

jtbeck, you made a mistake on the caption of the picture with the coquina wall and the red tour train in it. That is not part of North Beach, it is, in fact Magnolia Drive in front of the Fountain of Youth attraction in St Augustine. North Beach is very nice however.
