Just returned from a trip from Oregon to Arizona in 90+ degree weather. While going down a hill in Nevada, the Exhaust brake stopped working. Next morning it worked OK for about 2 hours, then stopped working again. This morning I contacted Pacbrake, and to make a long story short they said the compressor got to hot and shut down. Was installed as recommended by Packbrake. They say mount it on the inside front bumper. During my researh, not one word was ever mentioned about heat. Living in Arizona heat would be a factor prior to selection and purchase. When the brake works its great, however "IF" you are considering the Pacbrake be aware of this issue.
Where is yours mounted? I mounted mine on the left/outside frame below the back left door so it would not be anywhere near the exhaust. So far, so good but I've only been around town with it. Craig
I forgot about seeing the pictures of the compressor on the engine on their website. That's insane! They told me that people didn't notice the noise with it mounted there. I don't hear mine if I'm on the hiway but my exhaust is a little louder than stock. Craig
