Reason I ask is my in-laws trailer has a Suburban WH and I was thinking of getting him one of those anode rods with the drain valve in it, but all I could find at CampingWorld was one for the Atwood WH.
I'm assuming the threads are the same right?
Thanks in advance

Nope- different threads. On the Suburban it's really best to inspect the anode every time you drain it anyway.

Atwood does not have, or need, an anode rod. I can't imagine what Camping World is calling an Atwood anode rod.

Atwood says: Use of an anode rod will void the warranty.

I'll add to this by saying that Atwood uses an Aluminum tank that doesn't rust. The Suburban uses a porcelain coated tank that may rust without an anode.

My Atwood doesn't have an anode rod, but on CW's website they list an Atwood and Suburban rod
CW Anode rod page
Link for anode rod with drain
Oh well, if they're not compatible that answers my question. Thanks!

Our Atwood Water Heater does not have the sacrificial anode at all. I am wondering what Camping World is referencing? Could this be an oversight?

It's a magnesium anode made by Camco to fit an Atwood. Magnesium is used on aluminum out-drives in fresh water, so its use here makes sense. Might be worthwhile if you were full-timing, but I expect an aluminum tank would outlast most of us.
The Camco anode for the Suburban is aluminum, so it would not be of any help in an Atwood.

It almost seems that CW will do anything to sell us a bill of goods. I'm beginning to distrust this bunch. The Atwood factory says NO ANODE...use of anode violates warantee. What self respecting retailer would sell you something unnecessary that violates your warantee???? I wonder if CW would honor your warantee if the anode screwed up something??

Lots of dealers sell Camco; why rip on CW?
Quote: ATWOOD CLAD TANK
The Atwood water heater tank is constructed of a core of high strength aluminum. The interior of the tank consists of a
15% thickness of type 7072 aluminum (pure aluminum and zinc) that is fused to the core during the rolling process.
This material protects the tank from the affects of heavy metals and salts found in waters throughout the country. It is
anodic to these heavy metals and acts much like an anode in a steel glass lined tank except it will last much longer.
There is also no need to replace an anode on a yearly basis.
I can see why some folks would prefer not to have the tank itself act the part of the sacrificial anode, even if it does last a long time. Couldn't find the part about it voiding the warranty, but I suspect most Atwood owners are well past the warranty period.
