Is there a temperature that one can truly expect catastrophic failure?
How much would this temperature level be impacted by someone who is constantly hitting curbs? I know, I know nobody around here would ever do such a thing. At least not admit that they do. By that I mean would the tire's ability to withstand heat be the same after the continuous abuse.
Passenger and LT truck tires are required to carry temp ratings of A, B or C with A being the best. If tire temperature is SO important, why is there no such requirement on commercial tires? Are we making a mountain out of a molehill?
I fully realize that it can indicate a problem elsewhere other than the tire, but the question is: Why Do MH Tires Blow Out? Bridgestone's 200 degree statement is reasonable, but it goes on to say check for a cause. With that I would guess that tire degradation is nothing near catastrophic tire failure.
Again, I go back to Sully's question "What temp is TOO high?"
