"The three main elements of the property tax system in North Carolina are real property, motor vehicles and personal property (inventories "

many other States are like this. That is quite a tax system. Look it up and learn more. Google will give the answers.

Just curious, does North Carolina have a state income tax?

Michigan screwed up royally... One time 6% sales tax, then $300 (max) one time permanent trailer license - good for the life of your trailer - while you own it.

Of all the other absurd fees our Gov from Canada has come up with, she really screwed up this one income source that some other states are apparently milking to the max...

Maybe we should go back to a horse and wagon and sleep in tents! But then they will come up with some way to screw that up. Probably will make you pay for a tag on the wagon and the horse. And the tent will be considered a house and you may for what a house the same size is.

Political posts are not allowed. Some have been close but this one was right on! Do it was deleted.

You can legally do this ONLY if you do not reside in another state, i.e., you can own property in another state, but you need to live fulltime in your RV and not spend more time there than the state allows you to stay in the state, before needing to become a legal resident of the state.

Trying to actually live in a particular state and then claim residency elsewhere can get you in severe legal trouble. Just ask some of those who set up Montana LLC's to avoid paying sales tax, and states like California and Colorado caught up with them, because the lived and worked in their states, AND kept the RV's there too...not smart.

Not all localities charge Personal Property tax on RVs in Virginia. I live in Prince William County which does NOT tax RVs.

Also I purchased a permanent RV tag for $50 when I bought my 5th wheel and it does not have to be renewed yearly.
That's Sweet I just $350 For our Spree!

First RV was a new small Starcfaft Metor tenttrailer(1991) Then we got a larger 1993 Starstrem Tent trailer.(1994) Then in 1999 we got a very used 1989  Fleetwood Terry Resort Fiver then in 2008 we got a new KZ Spree Fiver..Dock, Debbie & Dusty & Rockydog

Actually you CAN live in one state and register in another. The key is whether you WORK in the other state of nor. I don't work and I am legally registered in SD and live in NV. I have checked with the NHP and DMV and I am legal AS LONG AS I AM NOT WORKING HERE. I am considered a "snowbird" by them as long as I am paying taxes elsewhere..

NC does have a state income tax and many, many other hidden taxes.
