Heck...it normally takes the guy in front of me 10 minutes to get his Hazmat suit on before he gets anywhere close to pulling open a valve....

I have two Water Thiefs:

available at Camping World.

One for potable water and the other for the dump station. If I have no one waiting I'll hook up a short "black" hose using the Water Thief to run the Tornado a short bit if the park hose doesn't have a fitting on the end. I don't have to fool around with disconnecting/reconnecting the park line.

That's a good idea! I never knew these existed, thanks!!

a lot depends on how long the line is behind you. I have the quickie flush and I rinse every time, it doesn't take very long to connect and disconnect the hose. by the way, I bought a short gray hose for this purpose from my RV dealer, it is a light brown colored hose and I carry it with the sewer hose and do not use it for any other purpose. Yes, I rinse each time, it takes a lot less time then these guys that back flush their tanks with the flush king. The people that back flush are the ones that hold up the line, not the tornado or the quickie flush guys

Great info, thanks! I do try to be conceincious (sp) about the line behind me. So far, there hasn't been much of an issue, we have been camping on "off" days...

Do NOT connect a potable water source to anything that terminates at the black tank!

How do folks run a rinse at home or on-site with sewage hookups?

3 1/2 minutes, whoa, that is real fast. It probably takes me a minute to shut my diesel off, undo seat belt, open door and get to my dump station and then after dumping it probably takes me 2 minutes to do the above plus wash my hands, so that would only leave me 1/2 minute to dump my tanks. I will just never get that fast especially now that age is starting to creep up, but at least it gives me something to shoot for. If I ever manage to do it that fast I will repost and let you all know, not that anyone will really care.

If I'm waiting in line, I have DW drive the coach while I am pulling my stuff out, opening access door, and getting ready to hookup, then when it's time DW pulls up I tell her when to stop, hookup, and start dumping, then get out of Dodge, save the flushing for a later time when you are at a FHU site or all alone at the dump station. Just common courtesy. Never timed it but probably 5 minutes or less if you are organized. I also have a dump station at my storage, where I usually clean it out good, since there is never anyone there.

I should have stated "at a dump station". The last guy may not have been as meticulous as you.

At home you have complete control and know who was there before you.

I carry a small spray bottle with bleach in it. I spray the entire hose bib/handle of ANY hose bib I hook up to to take on fresh water.

I then wait a couple of minutes and then connect my fresh water hose.

As you thought, never connect the black water rinse hose to anything except the non-potable hose bib next to the dump.

I wish more people would dump and run. I seem to get stuck in the dump line for 45 minutes...and there is only three rigs ahead of me!

Good luck!

The sigot at the dump station is potable water. It comes from the same source as all the other water at the Cg.

As has been said, if you have any concideration for other people behind you, you dump the black, rinse w/ grey, and get outta there. The best dump stations are the ones that don't have any water anywhere near them. If you can't dump "cleanly" w/o the need for running water, learn how, or stay home. Play w/ your cleaning gadjets at home,......or maybe at a dump station if no one is behind you. Me? I don't need any cleaning gadjets, and it take me 3 1/2 minutes to dump 2 40 gal tanks, cleanup and all !

Thanks for your kind words. I want more people like you where I camp!!!
