We are in Dundee, MI parked beside my brother-in-law's barn with water and electric. Monday, will go dump at Cabala's then take the scenic route to Elkhart and the rv museum and Amish country. I love this life!!

Ditto. I don't even drive my toad during holiday weekends.
Heck when I lived in my house I found out 'very' quickly when you live in a rural area anywhere's near a route to a resort you sadly 'park' yourselves at home until the weekend is over. Unless you have an underlying death wish.
We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
We are in the mountains of Colorado. Very nice park! Nice neighbors. Only wrong thing with this weekend, is the property next to the park (right behind us and others) has guest or people that ride dirt bikes revved up full throttle without mufflers all weekend. Lots of noise and dust. Also they are shooting off fireworks up until midnight. This is in a county so don't think there is anything anyone can do about it. In Colorado fireworks are illegal if they leave the ground but they are doing it.
We will be here a month so hopefully this will cease before we leave or we may leave before our month is up.
Very nice area and had planned to come back next July, but do not know if we will now. Several of the people in our row said they will not be back, with that dust and noise next year or even stay till Monday.
Other than that has been a nice place to stay. Oh yes we are real full timers!

At the moment I'm staying in a combination mobile home/RV park (I always stay at least 1 month in any given area). I wouldn't bother traveling to any state or county park on a major holiday. Let the folks who like to party and can only get out on holiday weekends have their fun. As for me, I like it on the quiet side. The 4th of July at this RV park was pretty peaceful and I managed to get a good night's sleep.

Would you be here, on the Klamath River?
Great fishing too... that is a 35 lb Salmon...

We were in Quintes Isle, SE of Toronto, Ontario, then moved to KOA Marmosa, Ontario - nice areas - interesting to be in Canada that week - saw some festivities for 1st of July - Canada Day, but the weekend was quiet. Yes, we already have reservations for over Labor Day - no way do we plan to be on the highway over holidays.
I agree that the best rv or home bases to be in over any major holiday is one with rules strictly enforced as to quiet times, behaviors which are unacceptable, etc.

Unfortunately these are hard to find! Even when we were running a park, it was extremely difficult to do, especially if the park frequenters had been getting away with bad behavior for a long time. It is really the only thing I DON'T miss about fulltiming
