I noticed that there are many posts here by folks that are not really full timers. For those of us that are, I wonder what you do for a place to be on the holiday weekends when the amateurs are all out? I am very patriotic and love and observe these holidays. We love cameradie, music, entertainment, and fun, but on Memorial Day, the 4th, and Labor day, many campgrounds are overrun by the folks that just want to escape their stick houses and party. Lots of noise, drunks, and late night incidents. We normally don't often make reservations when we are roaming, but on these days we try to pick a spot and stay for at least a week or two if necessary so that we have a place to park during the holiday weekends. We also have spent them in truckstops (sometimes quieter than a campground on the 4th), our kids front yards, and remote campgrounds. How about you?

I am camp hosting at St. Andrews State Park here in Florida. We will work the gate the morning of the 4th and then will open a cold one and watch others blow up their money. We have been here since April and will leave Sept.

I don't thinks it's much different than anyone else really. Neighborhoods can get pretty crazy for the non full-timers. Many RV parks have strict rules regarding the 4th like where I am and it's pretty peaceful so I'm sure if peace and quiet are on your agenda I'm sure you could find a quiet or semi quiet place. No different either way as you have the revelers no matter where you go or live. A boondocking experience in store maybe?? From my experience as a 6+ year host is campgrounds seem to be the loudest with the most activity so I'd look for a nice private park to hang out under the wire a couple days, it you can still find a vacancy. As you mentioned a truck stop may do, but not my idea of a peaceful holiday weekend lol.

We never travel on a holiday or on a weekend. Too much traffic, too few sites available, too much noise. We do want to celebrate the 4th so arrived at Elks Lodge in Farmington NM yesterday (Thursday) and will hang out here until Monday. RV remains parked.

Howdy!

We fulltime and like you the only time we plan and make reservations are during the big three holidays Memorial Day, 4th, and Labor day. We stay through the holiday and wait for the crowd to come and go before moving on. We're now in Bandera, Tx for the 4th sweating out the Texas heat.

Happy 4th and remember why we enjoy this freedom we have. God bless the our troops!

We got lucky this year...our plans allowed us to stop at a friends place and we're parked next to their building with full hook-ups...usually we have to make reservations at one of our membership parks well in advance to secure a space, and then deal with all the "weekenders letting loose" over the holiday.

This is much calmer and relaxing...by far!

We've FT'd for 4 yrs. If out of our home park system on the left coast, we suck it up and pay for a couple days in a private park which we have reserved in advance. This year we are in a smallish COE in WV and the kids outnumber the adults by a factor of four, at least. (Yes, we just had some little squirt ride his bike through the side 'yard' of our site over the sat dish cable. )

No, I don't hate kids or dogs, I just do not want to raise anyone else's. Please wake me when Labor Day has come and gone.

Parked on the terrace level at Crystal Kangaroo cg in Manitou Springs, CO, where we've been since mid May. We have a beautiful view of Garden of the Gods and CO Spgs, so will see plenty of fireworks in the distance. We like the quiet and abundant wildlife here - lots of deer and two bears.

The wife and I are doing gate duty. 11 AM to 9 PM. Friday and Saturday. Not at the same time, but in shifts. Plus I have to clean the one and only bathhouse. Then at 11 PM(quiet time) I have to go out and try to get campers to quiet it down the the night so they can go out and have fun the next day.
