What type of splitter do i need to operate two separate receivers from the same cable? I purchased one from HD that was suspose to be for satellite\digital signal but does not work with my two receivers.

Unless someone disputes me, it is one antenna, one receiver ONLY!! The receiver talks to the LNB on the dish, with a little voltage and a switching signal. Two receivers on the same dish does NOT work. However, there are dishes with two pickups, each of which can be wired to different receivers. If I have stated this incorrectly, soeone please correct me.

Noel. What you say makes since. I'll just have to run two cables like i'm doing right now. I have one of the splitters that has two lbn inputs with four TV outputs.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a dual LNB to run two receivers and two coaxial cords. Once cord wont work.

I am guessing here but based on what you said I think that what you have is a multiswitch, not a splitter. You cannot have a splitter in the cable between the satellite dish and the receiver, and one dish (one LNB) can run only one receiver.
In order for your multiswitch (if that is what you have) to run two or more TV receivers with independent program selection you will need two inputs; i.e. you will need two LNBs. If your dish has two of them you can connect them to the multiswitch and operate up to four TV receivers.

hwybnb. Your are right I have a multiswitch. It is attached to the two cables coming out of my portable dish with a single LBN and I can run four cables from it. I see the logic of having a cable to each receiver and therefor each TV.

The terms get confusing but you have a single housing with two LNBs in it.
