I have a 98 Sunline Solaris and the paint is coming off. What is the best way to paint a TT and what paint should I use? The sides appear to be aluminum. Thank you for any info. Dave

the best way to paint a TT is to have someone else paint it.....

How is the paint coming off?
Perhaps the first step is to identify the cause and correct it if there is something other than an adhesion issue.
I suggest looking close to see if there is any corrosion in the area of the missing paint.
Can you post any pictures?

after fixing the problem of paint shedding off. You can sand the aluminum, and paint with enamel paint. Preferably automotive paint. DuPont or PPG is real good paint. I would paint a TT just like a body shop would prepare and paint a car. However you could go to Lowes/Home Depot/ETC. buy enamel exterior paint (not latex paint) and a wagner power painter and have at it.

I remember when I had a boat and had it painted, the crew acid washed the aluminum to make it stick and not flake off, Was aa few years ago and dont remember exactly, may be contact a body shop and ask them the proper way to prep aluminum

I have pressure washed it a number of times and the paint runs off. Corrision is not an issue. Also, how about painting the doors, which have fiberglass inserts? If you acid washed it, wouldn't it eat up the gaskets? Will post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for your help. Dave

Would you be able to spray automotive paint with a Wagner power sprayer?

To do the job right if its aluminum.Strip all the old paint off.Prep the metal, prime with corrosion resistant primer, shoot the color, shoot at least one coat of uv protector.Been there, done it more times than I can recall.

How would you strip the metal and how would you prep it? Here are some pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/hellbird503/Camper#
You can see the paint has run off, but no corrosion. Thanks for your help. Dave
