Town is 8 miles, I just redrove it and no luck- and now its dark. There is a farmers co-op here but its closed till monday.

How far is town? I would walk it in the morning or drive real slow for a look to find that item. Maybe a U-haul would have the adapter but I don't know who is open tomorrow. RV place might be open to catch some holiday sales. I doubt an auto store would have that item.

Wow I'm at a loss for words. My wife and daughter were just walking campsite to campsite to see if any 5th wheel owners had the adapter in their receiver and we found a guy pulling a big montana 5th wheel. Told him my situation, offered him 100 dollars to rent his adapter, gave him my business card to let him know who I was and would definately send it back to him and he said he and his son made that adapter and I couldn't buy it. I then offered him $200 and he said no. Unreal.

Is the missing adapter really critical? A little slop shouldn't strand a person. Good luck.

That little 1/2" A-dapTer wouldn't hold me up.
I'd use duct tape, zipties and washers or even quarters to fill up the space. Good luck.

Check with closest GM dealership they may have one in stock or take one off of a truck on the lot and then order one to replace it. At our dealership we would do this in a heartbeat! Hope the guys in CO. feel the same. Good Luck!

If I was you I would talk to someone in the office at the campground and ask for a list of other campgrounds in a 50 mile radius. Some campgrounds have little general stores right on site and most have some RV parts in them . Over the years I have seen some with parts etc and I was amazed at what they had. I was recently at a campground in Connecticut that had a small section of thier store that had parts on the shelf that I would haved never thought imagineable. All stores at most campsites will be open tomorrow. Let us know how you made out. Good Luck.

Wal-Mart has some hitch items, I can not see them being closed on the fourth! Might be worth a try!

TEXXAS wrote: Hey everyone, was getting ready to head home tommorrow after stopping in south fork tonight at fun valley. Setup camp then went to town. Well I went to put my receiver hitch back into my 2007 chevy 2500HD and it didn't fit right. After looking at it again it appears the truck's receiver hitch is bigger than 2" and had some sort of insert in it to accomadate my 2" receiver. I'm assuming its a 2.5" or 2.25" receiver with a 2" insert/adapter for my 2" receiver. Does this sound normal?its friday night on a holiday weekend and we (my family) are stranded here- can anyone please tell me the best or quikest way to fix this? Could a welding shop fabricate me something? Or do I need the adapter from someone like reese? And if so, who would carry that? Chevy dealership? Auto parts store? Or a specific hitch shop? Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer assistance/input.
I would get some steel 1/4" x 2" flat bar stock from HD/Lowe's and cut 4 pieces like 3" to 4" long and wedge one on each side of your drawbar in the receiver and then duct tape those to the drawbar just to get you home. Cost would be a hacksaw and the flat stock about $20.
