Looking for some input on buying a fifth wheel. First right now I have a 33' travel trailer 1 slide and 2 bunks. My TV is an 07 crew cab Chevy with the D/A.
Now with that said I am looking for a fifth wheel with 4 bunks, been looking on the computer but not in any lots yet thinking of waiting to go to the Hersey show and look at them all there. Do you think I will get the best price there or at a dealership before the show? What brands can you recommend? Don't want to spend more then 25K if possible.

go to the Hershey show ,think you will get the best deal. they say that 25% knocked opp price at show time ,then you work them down more from that price .we live next town from Hershey ,and bought our 2009 Open Range there .know what you want before you go as there many many dealers and coampies there with all there models.

Just be prepaired to haggle alot with the factory people. That is what is nice about that show, anything NOT sold must move to the local dealership and the factories usually bring a good amount. I would think that this year more than ever the dealers will not want more inventory coming back to their lots.....Good Luck and Happy Camping,,,Joe

Check craigs list, e-bay, local classifieds, buy used. All the kinks are worked out already and the price is right.

Go to the Hershey show to see the floor plans you may or may not get the deal you need there. But if you find the right thing even if you can't make a deal on the spot at least now you know what to search for on the web.

As for buying used yes one idea is all the kinks are worked out of it. The problem we had when we were shopping was the fivers we found used that had the floor plan we wanted you could smell the mildew and mold in them.

For most people buying used is fine for us it wasn't working out and I've seen the posts on here "Got a good deal on a used rig only to find out the X was rotten what do I do?"

There are pros and cons to buying new or used.

25K will buy you a used fiver in the 25 foot range about two or three years old. You will probably not be very happy with what you can get for the money you want to spend. If your crew cab is a 2500HD GM product that is about all you will be able to load up on your truck after all the kids, dogs, wife and stiff is loaded onto it. Sorry to say, if you have a 2500HD in crew cab configuration it will be bumping right up on it's load limits.

Only 25' with a 2500 D/A? We have a guy here in the park who has a new 2500 CC D/A who is pulling a new Excel Wild Cargo 39'. Now the Wild is only, - Unloaded Vehicle Wt. (W/O Water)15,140, - Hitch Weight (W/O Water)2,800, - Maximum GVWR22,500. He said it pull it fine. I would think anyone who is smart enough to make the money it takes to buy that setup would be smart enough he should not have that set up. Oh well.
