Those signs are a good way to invite intruders into your RV. Bad guy comes up to your Rv and knocks on the door. He says, "Hey Bob (or whatever your name is that he gets from the sign) I didn't know you were here, too! Come on out and lets visit!" You automatically open the door believing it is someone you know, and the rest can be brutal.

That's why there are windows in doors, so you can SEE who is there! True, not all door windows are clear so you can see through them, but WHY, unless you recognized the voice, would you open your door?
Sorry, but I see that post as just another example of the raging paranoia that is prevalent these days. How many actual incidents, as described, have there been in the last 5 years? How many in the last YEAR?
Is it REALLY something to be concerned about?

Frankly, 'BAD GUYS' don't need your name to do you harm. And chances are you will open your door whenever 'somebody' knocks on it. One MUST always be aware & cautious these days.
That's why my 70# Border Collie answers the door
With that said.....you want a sign, put it out with whatever you like on it. We have several signs & 'yard art' we put out everytime we set-up, welcoming all visitors. That's one of the nice benefits of traveling....meeting new people. Welcome signs help break the ice.

I can't imagine that someone would come up to your RV and try something just because they've got your name from your sign. They wouldn't have a clue what they were getting into. No idea how many adults might be present. Too risky for an intruder. They're not the bravest segment of society.
I would just make sure to never put any children's names on the signs. That is asking for trouble in this day and age. I'm always blown away by people who put their kids' names on the backs of their mini vans or on their kids' clothing. That's like putting a sign on a child that says "predators, please stop here."

I have never seen the need to put out a sign saying who I am or who we are. I don't have one at my stick house, do you? But if I felt the need for a sign, I don't think I would include our first names, just our last name. Just my opinion. I might consider a sign that I saw. "One cute chick and one old crow".

I found a great place for signs for those who like "primitives"....she will even make custom signs, and you have lots of colors to choose from too...my daughter showed me this website this morning:

I wouldn't be worried about putting my name on the sign....I'm in a campground surrounded by lots of other campers....really, someone is going to go out in the middle of the day around PEOPLE IN TRAVEL TRAILERS and MOTORHOMES and do an "RV invasion"....knowing that "camping people probably all carry shotguns!"
I feel way more safe in a campground than I do in my stick house!
