I have been given a price of $13500 for a 1997 Georgie Boy 31ft Class A Pursuit. I currently have a tt and considering going the class A route. Unit has about 22-23k miles. Seems like no problems with unit only owner says generator needs "adjustment". Owner also claims to get 10 mpg. I have not looked at the unit since it is 4 hours away. Is this a good unit? Georgie Boy a quality brand? How about the price? Thanks!

I don't no about Geargie Boy, but that sounds like a really good price!

Georgie Boy seems OK I have a good friend who has one and he seems happy. That is a pretty short unit does it have slides? Its a good price even if it does not but I do not think you will be happy with it if it does not have more room. It needs at least one big slide IMHO. No point in getting a great deal on something you do not want. Eddy

We have the 1993 32' version (first year of that body style and for the Pursuit line). We are on a P30 but I think they mainly built on Fords the later years.

Other than a leak around the radio antenna (now removed) and 12 leaks along the edge from long term RV cover use we have not had any surprises in a negative sense.

In a local shopper I saw a 2000 V-10 30 foot major brand for $18,000 so if it is really nice $13,500 sounds in the ballpark.

The Pursuit is a more basic model which is good as they age because they cost less to keep going. I expect we will make keep ours another 10 years and are going through it system by system so we understand it and how to fix it when it breaks plus it is a shop project for teaching the kids home and auto repair. This weekend we have been have been swapping black O-rings in the AC system for green ones.

I guess we just got lucky (NOT) because our 1992 P30 was the last year before GM changed over to R-134a gas instead of Freon (R-12).

How do you plan at this point to use this MH. Short and no slides are a plus for us because we are the hit and run type and need no toad. These are the right size to go about anywhere.

Best of luck. DO WALK the roof because that was our only mistake. We only gave $7995 two years ago in 11 days so we came out OK.

Look in your local shopper ad type publications like you see around the doors of places where you eat, etc. That was were we found ours adn it was only 100 miles away.

There really is not enough to go on to know if the price is right. It could be a great price then it could be $5000 too high. On the high side $1000 should address most any big block exhaust manifold issues. $2000 will address tires if needed and another $2000 should cover that $50 here and $500 there kind of stuff that can be expected to pop up in the first couple of years of use.

NADA has the following value for that model. It isn't taking into account the low miles which at times I think is a negative.

End of 1996 the family owned Georgie Boy sold out to Coachmen to my understanding. Some would say that quality started to slip. Generator may be a Kohler which is harder to find someone to repair.

Check tires, brakes, header exhaust leaks, and leaking roof from a rubber roof that wasn't maintained well. Where the front cap connects to the rubber roof seems to be a weak spot.

Add a little to that price and get a 2000 or newer MH. Wider wheel tread, better engines and transmissions, and just better MH's were being built then. A lot fewer chronic problems with the gas chassis (Ford or Workhorse) from 2000 and on.

By the way, the guy is lying about 10 mpg on a regular basis. Maybe once with a 20 mph tailwind going down hill.

the guy is not lying about the mileage. i had a 98 for 9 years and it had a 454 chevy and we always got 10 when not towing and 9.5 when towing. they were a great unit and it was made by georgieboy before they were bought by coachman, and in my opinion were a lot better built unit. i put 79k on it and it never gave me a problem other then the fuel pump in the tank, and i think i had gotten a bad load of gas in canada on our way to alaska.
