When I pull out my main awning it only unrolls about 75% of the way, then you cant even get it to roll out the rest of the way using force. But when rolling it back up it goes back up with no problems. What could it be? It unrolls normaly but when it gets so far it just flatly refuses to go the rest of the way.

Don't know if I have an answer but I do have a question or 2.
When unrolling, does it just stop or does it feel like the spring is tightening?
Does it always stop at the same spot?
Was it working correctly in the past and this just started?
How long is the awning?

My nieghbor had the same issue with a used RV he purchased. We took it apart and found someone had change one spring but the just shoved the old parts into the tube instead of removing them. This got caught up in the works when he would unroll it.

What brand is it, just curious? I just installed a 20' Zip Dee and want to understand why you are having problems.

Are you remembering to loosen the knobs on the backside of the awning arms before you pull it out? This will cause that symptom you are describing if they are not loose.

I checked it again to insure that the knobs were loose when I put the awning down and they are. Any other ideas?

If the knobs are loose.... and there is nothing else you can see restricting the awning,... There is only one thing left that I can think of, The spring.

Maybe it is adjusted too tight see here http://www.rverscorner.com/RV_Awning_Repair.html for possible retention and or replacement of the awning spring
