why do we keep allowing these stupid drunk fools to be out walking around, or worse, driving around amongst us?
Oh, I don't know.. maybe we're putting too much effort into looking for pot farms.

When a person gets behind the wheel drunk, they are saying "my inconvenience of having to get alternate transportation is more important than your risk".

Why not have alchohol testers in ALL cars mandatory? This way you can slow down even first time offenders. I'd gladly blow into a pipe if it meant the roads are safer for my kids and grandkids.

As far as this person goes - take a life, give a life!!!

There is no one solution to the problem of drunk/drugged driving in this country. The solution needs to be multi-faceted.For one thing, we live in a country that is soaked in alcohol. Alcohol is associated with most, if not all, social events, and although the TV commercials are now adding "Drink Responsibly" at the end of their ads, they don't tell you what that means. A lot of people have no clue what it means to drink responsibly as they have not either been taught what it means and/or have had responsible drinking modeled for them when they were growing up. The obvious (at least to me) includes not to drink and then drive. However, we need to further educate people about alcohol as a drug and then teach them about how alcohol affects your ability to make decisons as well as your driving abililty. I also think that the general public should be aware that a very small percentage of convicted drunk drivers are alcoholic. The majority live under the guise of being "social drinkers." This is really a safety issue, not a moral issue. We all share these roads and IMHO, if you want to drink yourself into oblivion, go ahead. It's not the healthiest or the safest thing in the world to do, but it's your business. However, then you need to go curl up in the corner and go to sleep; don't get out on the roads that we all share.

Update on the homicide.... The drunk got just over 4 years.... She pleaded guilty to "vehicular homicide and causing bodily harm while under the influence." Four other charges were dropped. I hope she gets her due in prison... I really hope she gets worked over and treated really badly in prison.
