Right before we traded off our old coach we developed a funky smell in the fridge. Wife couldn't find anything bad in the fridge. We had both coaches for a couple of weeks before we moved everything into the new coach. She moved the frozen food, and the mustard, etc. type items. None seem bad or smell coming from them.
And as you guess now new fridge stinks. I finally convinced her to toss everything. But she has tried bleach, baking soda, lemons, vinigar, and a battery powered charcoal filter, with it off and open for a couple of days now and we can't get rid of the smell.
What the heck could it be and what might get rid of it?
Help! I don't want to buy a new fridge because she was too cheap to buy new mustard!!!

We had a smell from a plastic container of leftover black beans that turned bad. It got into the plastic of the refrigerator. We tried everything just like your wife and nothing was working. We finally got rid of it by making a paste of baking soda, wiping a layer of it over the entire surface and letting it sit for awhile. That got rid of most of it. The rest disappeared fairly fast with just a large opened box of baking soda in the refrigerator.

This is what we did when we ccidentally left food in the fridge and the TT was unplugged. It took about a week, but the smell is now gone.

another solution is to crumple up newspaper and fill the fridge. believe it or not, the paper absorbs smells. used it on a house fridge that had the power off for a while and things got "ripe"

I had a similar problem with a Coleman cooler and Coleman told me to use vanilla extract.

When not using your RV, do you shut off the Fridge, prop open all the doors and wipe up all the moisture after the Fridge has come up to room temperature?

Sorry to take so long to get an update.
We did the Baking Soda Paste as step one. That helped but you could still smell it slightly. We then did the coffee. Wow never knew coffee could be so strong. No longer smell the bad smell, but does anyone know how to get coffee smell out of a fridge?
Seriously the coffee smell that is still there smells great compared to the smell that was there.
And to answer the other question, we are full-timers so we never had the fridge off, so the wipeout procedure doesn't really apply to me.
Thanks for all the input and for saving my fridge!
