We just saw a new product called WiFi in Motion which extends your laptop air card (internet connection) by using an amplifier and antenna. According to the literature, you can extend your coverage by up to 60 miles.
It sounds too good to be true. It's expensive but might be worth the cost not to have to use unsecured hotspots while traveling. We're checking into it further but wonder if anyone out there has any experience with this or any knowledge about it.
I have an antenna for the aircard that I use all the time - do not remember the cost but don't think it was expensive. Also have an amplifier have used rarely. Purchased them from 3GStore.com. We hardly ever lose internet when driving - have to really be in the boonies or high altitudes in Smoky Mountain Park.
