For things like that, I kind of like white spray lithium...Hmmm, but then, I use that stuff on nearly everything if it's not going to be silicon!

I use a marine grade grease. It is usually a better grease than the average grease. I get mine from napa.

I use a dry grease that I get from the local CAT dealer. It is the same grease they use on their heavy equipment and it does not collect dirt, sand etc.

Whoa....what's this dry grease? If it doesn't collect dirt or sand I need to look into it for my hitch.

Dupont Dry Teflon in a can. http://www2.dupont.com/Consumer_Lubricants/en_US/products/dryfilm.html

Its about $5-6 a can at Lowe's. Also works great on motorcycle/ATV chains. Does not collect dirt/sand like wet lubes or waxes.

I use the Dupont Teflon on the screw jacks and slide gear. Works real well and stays on even in the rain (not that it ever rains in the PNW!) and you can get it at Lowes.
