I am looking to purchase my first travel trailer...have owned a pop-up for years...and have been looking at travel trailers with a rear hard slide. Some of the initial feedback I have gotten is that they tend to leak. Does anyone have any experience with a travel trailer that has a rear hard slide...say a 21RS, 23RS, or 25RS?

Don't know where you heard they leak. I am on my second one with no problems. No problem with it being cold in the winter either. Been in 15 degrees and it was nice and warm.
Post here for more replies. Great group!

We had a Jayco 213, rear queen hard slide.
It gave us no problems including no leaks. I lubricated the slides with dry slide lube and it always worked great.

Just don't buy a Coleman Caravan (they don't even make them anymore). I have not meet anyone that did have major leaks with these.

most of the negative feedback I got was from dealers when I mentioned I was looking for a camper with a rear hard slide. I found a skyline malibu 2510 that has a rear slide but I have not heard much about skyline and this model...anyone know anything about it.

Currently have a GulfStream GulfBreeze 23TRS and the family really likes it - on our 3rd year of camping with it and no problems with the slide or leaks of any sort. Just have to ensure (as with any slide-out) that that you ensure nothing is stuck on top (e.g. sticks/branches) before you bring it in.
Had a few minor issues with it (as I think any TT does) and GulfStream was great to deal with.
One feature we really liked of the GulfBreeze line is that the slide-out doesn't require any add'l supports once it's extended, so just push the button to send it out and your done.
We've camped in below freezing weather with it and no problems, except some minor condensation inside the trailer in a few spots - but I would expect that with temps in the 20s.
Wish we had the model with a 2nd slide out to give us more room inside, but personally felt that was pushing limits of TV combo.

As you can see in our sig, we have a Jayco 213 and we have had no problems what so ever. The rear slide really opens up the useable space in the trailer. Hope this helps.

That probably because they don't sell them and they want to sell you something they have.
Re: Skyline - they are a debt free company currently and have been in business for 50+ years. They make RV's and also manufactured homes. We almost bought one and they'd make our short list if we were in the market again.
They make a good trailer overall. ALL manufacturers will have some issues - nature of the beast - but they are typically one of the better ones.
