Good news to hear given the economy. I think no matter how bad things are, or will get, people still need to get away and enjoy some of the simpler pleasures.

Did some fishing last Thursday thru Sunday, in the northern Yampa Valley in northwest Colorado, every camping spot and forest service spot was being used.

We went camping for three days this last weekend at the coast.
It was 107°F in the valley and 65°F at the coast. You couldn't find a camping spot anywhere, even on Sunday night.

Very busy here in Missouri State Parks and Corp of Engineers...private outfitters have noticed a drop off.
We usually go to state parks and corp parks and have noticed that many of the paved electric sites are all reserved and being used by tents. We've had a harder time getting in than in the past.

No way to get in on the weekends unless you have booked reservations way in advance in our neck of the woods. I have also seen a lot of tent campers in spots primarily used by RVers lately. I'm not surprised since this is still the best value when it comes to taking a vacation.

The company I work for has been giving all employees every other Friday off without pay, as a cost cutting measure. The company my DH works for has been giving him every Friday off without pay. We are both thankful that we still have jobs and are not complaining.
We thought we'd use these 3-day weekends to go camping. I've not been too successful in finding any campgrounds that have any openings. I did manage to book a couple of weekends. You can't even touch the state campgrounds in CA, they've been booked up for 6 months.
So I would say that camping is up in my neck of the woods!

I was talking to one of our Parks and Rec employees today at our local campground and even though it has been cool and raining most of the last 2 weeks, he says that business is definitely up this summer. He says he has talked to many campers and they are staying close to home, but wanted to "vacation".
