Periodically, every 1 to 2 weeks, a bad odor will float up from kitchen and bathroom sink. Flushing the whole system with clorox hasn't helped. Have done this several times since June. Odor still comes back. We stay in this 2007 Keystone, 3 slider, 1 May to 1 Oct. Go home for a couple of days every 1-2 weeks to restock. We don't notice odor when it's cooler (early Spring and Late Fall). Other 5th wheels and motor homes in our lake RV resort don't seem to have this problem. Any ideas???

Thanks in advance

More than likely, the traps in these two sinks are drying up....the water evaporating. If you add a little water to each sink trap once each week.....you shouldn't notice the odors any more. With no water in the trap, the odors from the tanks will vent back up through the drain.

Same things may happen with the toilet, if the water seal dries up, so you will want to keep some water in the toilet at all times too.

Of course, as it gets cooler, it's going to evaporate slower.....so you might not notice it happening as often.

Look inside each of the suspect cabinets for one of these:

The anti-siphon valves are known to stick open and allow drain smells to enter. Very easy to replace....

We live in Las Vegas and we have never had any kind of smell coming from any of our sinks or toilet...we use the fabric softener, water softener, baking soda and pinesol...works great!!

Keep trying the bleach. It worked for me. Maybe try a stronger solution.

If you are keeping the valves open then try closing them and see if it still smells. If that solves your problem then your problem could be sink trap or one of the anti-syphon valves.

Add RV antifreeze if it's going to sit for some time.

Try closing off the grey line valve if the A/C is running because the return from the A/C creates a vaccum inside the rv and can pull odors past the p-trap open the grey valve once or twice a day to drain the tanks and close them back after they have drained don't forget to drain them when packing up.
