I have an LCD/DVD combo in the rear of my MH. I was looking for something I could use in the front of the MH, by the dinette and chairs.

Rather than buy another LCD TV, I wanted to maximize the use of my laptop because I take it in the MH too.

After some research, I bought a Hauppauge WinTV USB HDTV tuner stick. Model 950Q from Amazon for $66.

It is a small USB device that plugs in the side of my laptop. It has a coax connector for my batwing or cable if avail in the CG. It also comes with a small antenna. There is also a connection for component or s-video. Comes with a little remote control too.

I simply used the provided antenna, scanned for DTV, and picked up 11 stations. Started watching HDTV on my laptop screen and it looked great.

So now my laptop does 3 things: a) wireless internet b) DVD player on the go and c) 17" HDTV all with one device. When the MH goes into the storage lot, packing up the laptop is easy vs. a wall mounted LCD..

Lastly, I like the idea the supplied antenna was just enough. I didn't have to fool with the batwing and aiming it, etc.

Just passing the info along. Maybe someone else wants to do something similiar.

I have the same Hauppauge unit. It works great! I sometime hook my RV roof anntenna to the coax input and get even better receiption. I use it alot sitting out side under the awning. I get so many people asking about it maybe I should get a franchise and sell the at campgrounds!

Thanks guys!

I've been thinking about one of those and a specific personal recommendation beats the heck out of that search engine silliness.

Be careful if the supplied antenna has a magnetic base. Don't let it get near your hard drive.
