We have grown accustom to Blue OX repairing our Advanta Tow bar at all the Rallies we have attened, but at Bowling Green and tough times for a lot of companies, we were surprised that it now cost $25. After giving a little thought, it was a small price to pay for an almost complete rebuild and having the product returned to LIKE NEW CONDITION. A piece of mine that we appreciate very much. Blue OX ranks up there with the RV Industries Top Suppliers with the very Best Customer Service. Thanks Blue OX, job well done and greatly appreciated, hey and even with a smile.

Maybe I should go to Bowling Green. At least you were able to pay them for what you needed done. I haven't had the same luck.

The OP said they have grown accustom to Blue Ox repairing their tow bar. Is this a good thing? My family has one on a MH and it has never needed repair. What is braking that it needs to be repaired so often?

I think repair is a poor choice of words. Actually they tune up or repair the Blue Ox at the different rallys.
I had mine repaired, minor problem in Quartzsite for $15.00 and where was probably 20 or 30 tow bars lined up for tuneups and a checkup. Mine was the only one with an actual problem.
I'll have mine checked over (tuned up) again next year just for the piece of mind.

Yes, Blue Ox instituted the rally tune up fee about a year ago. Started at $15. It was explained to me that many people demanded a tune up when the bar was OK, so paying the fee means you are serious about having your bar tuned up/repaired. Greatly reduced the out of control requests.

I think that it is OK even at $25. If you need it, then pay.

For 25 bucks it is a good safety check. They inspect, lube, and will replace any necessary parts for the cost of the parts. After 50,000 miles of use I needed some plastic washers (they threw in new nuts and bolts) and was advised to change one minor connector. 15 dollars for parts; total 40 bucks. Not a bad deal for working like new and the peace of mind. Thanks Blue OX

They did the same service at Fleetwood Rally. They still be drop by and check your base plate free which offered me piece of mind. Now know how to shake the car from the tabs to check.

I agree with you folks that $25 isn't bad for giving a towbar a good cleaning and overhaul. But I have to say, Roadmaster's price for the same treatment is even better, $0! I had mine cleaned and spruced up, and they even replaced the ends on the stainless bars in Bowling Green, for no charge. Now that is REALLY worth it!! (the towbar has about 50,000-60,000 miles on it)

A free service is easy to do when the coach count is in the hundreds because not all will have a Blue Ox. It is pretty easy to ferett out the BO bars. When you have 2426 coaches that are parked every which way, it becomes a little harder. Either way you look at it, 25 bucks is cheap insurance.

Had ours checked over and tuned up at the Newmar Rally this week for $25. Well worth a good safety check. The tech did a great job. As a side, a friend was thinking he needed a new tow bar so he purchased a new one here at the rally. The Blue Ox rep came over and looked at his present one and said, (not a direct quote, but close) I can't sell you a new one, because you don't need one. The one you have just needs a little tune up. There you have it, an honest sales person. Two thumbs up for this Blue Ox guy.
