We had an interesting 'happenstance' earlier this year when the shelf and brackets that were holding our old style 13" TV decided to let go of the wall and fell (TV hit the dinette table, breaking the table). Upon attempting to install a new shelf system we determined there were "no" studs in the wall behind the dinette where the TV had been mounted (no wonder it fell! How did it stay up for so long???). We ended up creating a freestanding shelf that rests on the top edge of one of the dinette seats. That way, the weight of anything on the shelf is dispersed to the dinette seat supports. We will be installing "L" brackets to tie the shelf back to the wall so the shelf can't tumble forward.

By the way, our TT is permanently parked so we don't necessarily have some of the same issues other owners have.

3 guns sounds like quite a bit of weight to be bouncing around on a rough road. The rack would have to be very well mounted to stay in place. Might want to put the guns elsewhere while traveling.

A 2X3" wall 16" on center will hold 3 guns NO problem.

I think Jayco's wall studs are 2x2", the floor beams are 2x3". Look for the filled in staple holes holding up the wall paneling for the studs.

Actually the walls are so thin you can find the studs by just pushing with your fingers and feeling the wall flex.

Mine is like that. But even though I can find the studs, I'm worried that it's still not very thick--especially on the outside walls. Is it safe to mount something like an LCD TV on the studs on an outside wall or is it better to do it on an inside wall?

Would it be overkill to screw another 1/2" or 3/4" thick strip of wood against the stud and then mount the brackets?

Not for "in-transit".

Would use while in camp and at night.

Much easier than standing them in a corner.

BTW - I shoot competitions.
That's why the need.

Yes there are studs, and remember they are usually on 2x2" so watch your screw lengths.

Most definitely.

I learned that in an older house trailer a while back.
Sent a 3" screw through the wall, and a MIRROR.

cajoctaw, you're obviously not going to be traveling to Canada.
