Thanks for the replies. I have 30amp service and I am not using an extension cord. I turned on the air conditioner to 70 but it was 104 outside, so in 15 minutes I don't think it was able to cool that much (but you are right about the fan switch, fan is fan no matter what). I will check the vent overhead to see if it is affecting the thermostat.

Anything else to check?

Does it turn off before reaching the set temp often. If it does, install the new digital thermostat that you have.

It looks like your fan switch is on low. Running AC on low in hot, humid weather can cause a freeze up. Let it thaw for an hour or so then try running on high.

I went out to the trailer today. Unfortunately, I didn't have my tool box with me to take of the intake vent and the outside shroud to check it. I turned it on, and within 10 minutes it popped the circuit breaker. I reset it but the a/c wouldn't come back on for about 10 more minutes although the fan worked.

Could it actually freeze up in less than 10 minutes? So you know, I am no ace at air conditioning much less electricity. I appreciate all your help.

no, it shouldn't freeze up in 10 mins. I would do a search for the service manual for your model and follow the trouble shooting flow chart. Link here..........................

I had a simular problem this summer. In my case, the A/C was freezing up. This happened because a wire from the A/C that went to the thermostat had come loose-I believe it was the thermister (sp?). I was also told that if you run the A/C and it goes off, it is designed to not turn back on for a few minutes. The fan will run but the A/C will not for a while.

BTW, it is a Coleman A/C too.

If your still in Mexico I would check the voltage. Everyone running ac plus other electric items could pull the voltage way down. Fan would run because it is a simple motor. After ac shuts down a delay is triggered to not allow the ac to start up again right away; this helps with the start up against the compressor. Get a simple volt meter at Home Depot and check the voltage.

Ive got the oppisite problem. My issue is that mine dosent shut off no matter where I have the t-stat set at. The fan shuts off but the compressor dosent shut off i can still hear it running up on the roof. I havent figured out how to fix it yet. Ive just been shutting off the breaker

Ditto! This happens here in west Texas when the humidity gets up.
It will generally trip the breaker too when this happens.
