DW & I are considering full timing, and would like to know what you full timers are utilizing for your secure internet access. I've not had very good success with most of the wifi reception at CG's, that claim to provide wifi. Plus wifi doesn't seem to be too secure. I'd appreciate some input on what is working well for you, and if you'd go the same way again.

More than once we have considered an air card. But each time we do, we think again, and just live with what sometimes are slow to non-existent connections. Most of the time, the office will have either a direct connection, or you can get a signal by getting closer to the router. If the office doesnt have a way to connect, we rarely ahve trouble finding a free connection near a business area. This works well for us, but we also dont need a wifi connection, we just want one.
In regard to security, we dont worry that much, since most of the sites for banking have built-in security that is adequate and we dont feel a need for more. Except of a few banking needs we dont need security for anything else we do on the net.
If your requirements are more extensive, perhaps an air card would be your best option.

WiFi is more secure than you might think I have never known anyone that had their info stolen over WiFi. As far as WiFi in campgrounds if you’re on a secure website and you have file and print sharing turn off its like sitting in front of your computer at home. All banks and financial sites use secured websites.

We seldom use CG WiFi since most access points have been weak and slow.
We started with a tethered Verizon cellphone when we started in September 2005.
We sold our house a week later while at a rally and all the paperwork was transmitted back and forth over that phone. Cellular bill that month was over $300.
The next month we bought a Verizon Merlin 620 Aircard with unlimited access. We still use this card in a cellular router, but have found it works about 80% of the time. Monthly cost is about $60
Our regular Internet access in via a MotoSat Datastorm we had installed in the fall of 2006. This system works whenever we have a clear view of the SW sky. Cost per month is about $80 per month.
Good luck with CG wifi, we required more to stay in touch with family in computer industry occupations.

I just picked up a Verizon USB760 modem.Have heard and read to many posts where wifi was iffy or it didn`t work at all or you had to be close to the office for it to work.I need internet.So this USB modem was the right thing for me.Its NOT cable speed,but really so far its not to bad.Streaming video can be choppy at times,but I can live with that.I do have the 5GB limit.But haven`t even come close to going over that yet.Can get pricey if you do.And Verizon`s coverage seems to be pretty good in most areas where I`ll be traveling.

Why have both $80 and $60? You only need to pay one service for your internet access.
