...my lovely wife and I own a small Lance Squire 8' 6" camper; we share it with a small, spayed German Shepard female: 70 lbs. For no other reason than to satisfy a weird curiosity I have, I'd like to know how many of you camper folks share your camper with your pet(s)?

Specifically, if it's a dog, how much does your pooch weigh, and where does s/he get to sleep?

Our dog is spoiled, so she gets to sleep on the lower bunk bed; we keep her food and water at the floor base, near the bathroom.

Our cat stays home, but if you travel with a cat in a camper, I'd like to hear some of your stories too.

Be Well,
Rev. Leonidas

We have a 14 lb rat terrier that sleeps on top of the bed between us and a 5 lb yorkie that sleeps on my pillow between my dh and I. They do the same thing at home. We don't have any grandchildren and don't expect any from our kids. We have a 31yr d, 27yr s and a 22 yr s. They could careless about having kids. Maybe that is a blessing in disquise! Our dogs our our babies! And yes they are spoiled. Let's see what do we get them for Christmas!

My dog sleeps next to me, wife gets the table. Dog does not snore and does not take the blankets

The dog is a 30lb Border Collie.

Actually most times that we all go out I am out in a tent with one of the boys and the dog sleeps with my wife in the TC. When I am camping with the boys dog sleeps part of the night on the floor till she gets cold, then moves to the table bed, then in the morning when she wants more warmth she jumps up with me.

Dylan my 35lb shelter mutt, goes on every trip, sleeps up on the bed. In the rare case the wife goes and we take all 3 dogs we make up the lower bed for 2 of them and Dylan sleeps where he always does.

I have a Lance 845 (short box) and 6 year old 74lb female Chocolate Lab. The dog sleeps on the floor in front of the sink. I put a piece of carpet down and she is happy. She has never been allowed on furniture so, there is no issue with her wanting up in the bunk or in the dinette.
The biggest issue I have with her in the camper is getting her out of it. She is hesitant about coming down the steps or jumping to the ground. Going in the camper is no issue, coming out is the only issue.

Our standard poodle (60 lbs) sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed, just like at home (but a bit more crowded). When we first started camping 25 years ago we had a pup and the golden retriever slept in the youth bed at the other end of the trailer.

Catch This, a ramp will help your dog in and out. My dogs are old and I don't think either would be able to go up or down steps.

My two 50 pound Heelers either sleep in front of the sink on the floor or up under the table. On cold nights in the winter I make a tent over the table with a blanket and they both sleep under the table. Not without some sleeping space spats now and then.

We have a 105lb black lab. He sleeps on the floor and rides on the dinette bench.

He really likes going camping. Whenever I open the camper door at home he shoots right in and sits down on the dinette bench.

Our 27 lb mutt sleeps in a cat bed near the dinette, which is in the slide. We tried him in the bunk house with the kids, but they like the door closed and he didn't.We keep his food/water on the floor in front of the fridge. We've taken our two cats with us a few times and they sleep all over. Sometimes on any of the four bunks, sometimes in the queen bed with dh and me. We cut a small hole in the plywood under one of the bunks and that leads to a storage compartment with a bike door and that is where we put the cats litter box and their food so the dog can't get to either. The cats are great in the TT, but one of them hates driving in the car. He howls alot!

All I can do is laugh!
I have a Class C...so way more room, but then we take 6 or 7 dogs along (anywhere from 6# up to 75#)...oh...and a ferret mansion that houses our insane squirrel! (and for long trips....a rabbit hutch that houses the cottontail bunny I hit with my car two years ago..Miss Suzie) Our dogs just park wherever they want...under the table, in the hall, on the bed (and the two smallest like to sleep up in the cabover bunk with me!)
