Hello everyone, I have an 06 Cedercreek Silverback and this week when I went to the campground, the camper smelled like the black water tank, I could not figure out what was wrong until I went into the bathroom and noticed that the toilet was dry. I didn't think this was a big deal so I just flushed it and figured that everything would be ok. Wrong an hour or two after I flushed the toilet it was dry again, I figured that there must be a bad gasket. Does anyone have any info or tips for me.

What Brand/Model commode do you have? It could be the seal gone bad or you may just have some hidden crud on the flushing ball. You may have to loosen the upper part of the commode to see underneath and determine if there is any hidden crud. Changing the seal isn't a really big job if it is necessary.

You neeed to clean the groove where the slider goes in.
There is a bent screw driver tool from Thetford available but you can make one.

You can use a bathroom round brush to clean some of the debris out. They sell one that is about three inches in diameter that works.

Before the big dump, fold around 4-6 layers of toilet paper and drop in above the valve, works great keeps the chit off the slid and groove!!!!!Never clean again .

If your toilet is a Dometic Sealand 210, it is the seal. Call Dometic and they will send you a new type of seal for free.

We have a 2005 Cedar Creek and had the same problem. There was a small cleaning tool that came with our unit. I cleaned the seal. I also added a small amount of seal conditioner and let it set overnight. Have not had a problem since then (3 years). We do now clean the seal once a year and add the conditioner each spring.
