HR owners...we have the "water management" system on our RV. There is no gravity flow filler. The manual states that if you put water in the tank from a non-pressurized container (bucket), that you need to use an independent pump. I have put small amounts of water from a bucket, using the 5ERS water pump. Although it is quite slow, and you must elevate the water container, it does work.
I am planning a dry camping trip soon, and will need to put water in at the camp site. Was hoping for some feedback from you folks who have the same setup...not necessarily an HR rig.
I did ask my dealer about the independent pump thing. He said it was not necessary.

my jayco has the same set up as yours i have used the pump on the 5'er to fill the tank for a bucket and you are right it is slow but this year i bought a pump and mounted onto a piece of plywood and hook it up to the batteries and use it to pump from the bucket or a water jug using the city water fill on the water management system and it only took about 5 minutes to empty a 6 gallon jug and that was while we were boondocking 27 miles in the back country worked great.

I have the same setup on my rig and it works just fine. Maybe you have a small leak in one of your connections or your hose is collapsing under suction. Mine will pump from a barrel @ about 3/4 the pace of a pressurized hose.

Who wants to strain their back and arms to lift and hold water jugs up high to a filler spout.
When I can not connect to a water faucet to fill my tanks, I devised something to make life a little easier.
I have an auxiliary 12v water pump that will draw water out of a primary bucket and push the water
thru filters and into my water tank. The water can be from any potable water source to include
captured rain water. I just need to fill the primary bucket as needed with potable water and exercise
water conservation when dry camping.

I got a pump and a couple 6 gallon water jugs that I adapted the top to accept the hose fitting. It works very well for me, I got tired of lifting and spilling the water.
