Just wondering how many tow their 5th wheeel with a 3/4 ton short bed and how heavy is your 5th wheel? What draw backs have you found?
What if anthing have have you done to beef it up.

Have an 07 Dodge 2500 5.9 diesel automatic short box towing a 33" Cedar Creek about 11000 actual lbs per scale weight. I have added Air Ride air bags only because the trailer squatted the truck enough that headlights caused on-comming motorists to flash lights at me at night. Tows well and within (barel7y) the correct weights for the package. I do not have the slider but have pulled for years and know the turning limits of the truck and 5er. If new to towing I would suggest the manual slider at least. There are other options including the Pull Rite, very expensive and another one from Camping World that extends the turning point of the trailer to help avoid hitting the truck issues but definatly not necessary. Just know your limits and all will be fine if you can be comfortable with it as is or get a slider hitch.

Gas or Diesel? This will make a difference in your pull also. As other recommended a slider hitch. I always slide my hitch for assurance that I will not damage my truck. I also recommend moving up to 1 ton for more flexibility in your selection of trailers. Why limit yourself for just a few dollars more.

Yes I do, see my sig.
Smaller fiver. 9600# GVWR. 1600# - 1800# pin weight
Slider hitch (Superglide)
400# under truck GVWR
1000# under truck RAWR

Started out with a 35' Citation - way too heavy and not much fun to tow.

I do and I'm probably a bit heavy. My Dodge has what appears to be the one ton single wheel spring pack so I haven't had to do anything to supplement it. With the Heartland cutback corners, I haven't had to use the slider hitch yet.
I do miss the extra room of the long bed though. Seems to run out of space real quick when I load up for a trip.

Thought about adding air bags to my 3/4 ton mega cab, but after two long trips I've decided I just don't need them. I wouldn't be without the SuperGlide hitch.

Short box here, went with the superglide auto slide hitch, after the initial $$ I was really happy I did, It is just one more thing that I never have to worry about, like "oops missed my turn" I can u-turn in a really tight spot and will always clear, also run a poin box bike rack and do not even come close to the bike ever hitting...Also added Air Bags, I did not get much squat, but htey seemed to help on the bridge and road expansion joints, was getting some chucking at those points..Happy with my choice..

Short bed 2001 Ford Power Stroke Diesel 7.3. Trailer weighs 10,500 and truck pulls it fine. Best pulling truck that I have ever owned. Just a good power plant in a fine pickup.
