I'd LOVE to get to the beach (DE is probably closer for us) but it seems like there aren't any campground right on the beach. I'll check out the Shenandoah area too...pretty out that way...especially in the fall! Thanks all...keep 'em coming!!
I have to admit...I'm a little nervous for our first outing...getting everything set up (and correctly) and keeping the kiddo & baby happy. It'll be nice to feel comfortable with it after a few trips!!!
the interesting thing is that we were all there once - no big deal - you learn as you grow and you learn SO much from fellow campers.
I think Lancaster is probably a good bet for you if you want all the amenities ( pools, cable, etc) - try Old Mill Stream or Spring Gulch - also you may want to look at Morris Meadows off of I-83.
when you become a grizzled veteran of the camping scene - next year - try castaways or Frontiertown in Ocean City ( well, just outside of Ocean City) - you will enjoy either - with children, Frontiertown probably a little better.
you may want to do a campground search on www.rvparkreviews.com - a good website for future reference - good luck.

We love Yogi Bear Jellystone in Williamsport (Hagerstown). Great for the kids and the pool is a nice walk in for the little ones.

We like Rambling Pines right off of I-70. Yogi Bear is nice too. We also like Lake in the Woods in Pa. State Parks are great but most have only electric. Just be sure to get water before you set up. Dumping at the station is not a real problem, even for first timers.
Bar Harbor (agree with Bumpyroad), stayed there a few times visiting son in Baltimore. If your looking to be close Baltimore it's about 40 minutes north. Nice cozy campground. There's a couple of RV dealers close by. They also have wifi. Mac

Elk Neck State Park and Ramblin Pines will satisfy your needs. If you can deal with electric only site you can go to the Patapsco Valley State Park (clicky). It's only about 2 miles from 695 on Route 40.
