You guys want to be careful switching companies. Many companies, on all, will low ball the price for the first year or two, and then raise it up.

All I have to say about that price is HOLY ^&%*. I would not own a motorhome if my insurance rate was that high.

Look at the poster above whose RV is worth 179,000 in California and his yearly premium is close to yours.

That rate is obscene for a coach valued at between 30,000 and 40,000 like our coaches are.

For Comparison - 2000 National Tropi-Cal 37 foot Double Slide Tag Axle - $472 per year. Full Coverage, Comprehensive and Collision and that price includes Roadside assistance with Geico.

Without Roadside Assistance, Premium would be $429 per year.

moparmaga2,
Sounds like you are talking ordinary auto insurance and not motorhome insurance which is a different type of policy. Your insurance will not cover many thing that motorhome insurance covers, i.e. awnings.

I just got my renewal notice today from Progressive. When I bought my MH , I called my insurance carrier and they arranged the insurance. Being my first MH, I sent the check.

Now keep in mind, I'm 63; coach is 1996 and paid for and I live in NC.
Uninsured motorist $250,000 = $37.00
Uninsured motorist property damage $100,000 -$100 deductible = $12.00
General policy Total $49.00

Liability Coverage = $118.00
Medical payments $10,000 each person = $18.00
Comprehensive Agreed value $21,000 Deductible $250 = $193.00
Collision Agreed value $21,000 Deduct $250.00 = $123.00

TOTAL $ 501.00 - $50.00 if paid in full

Looks like I will be shopping before October.

This morning, my wife was writing a check, to Progressive, to renew our motorhome and motorcycle insurance. I checked what their rates were last year and the year before. They had gone up $540 in the last 2 years just on the motorhome. I called them and asked what was going on, since I have had no tickets or accidents in the 5 years that I have been with them. They didn't have an answer.
I just called up Geico and switched my motorhome, motorcyle,Jeep GC and Dodge Ram P/u. It saved me $1450 total a year.
I now have twice the bodily injury and property damage coverage.
When I first got Progressive, I though their prices were hard to beat.

one caution on AARP (Hartford) is....if you drive over your listed mileage per year, then they increase your premiums...I attempted to get a quote from Gilbert, but they didn't even answer my email..so guess they didn't need my business,,,anyway back to Hartford...increasing the premiums for miles driven...living out here in the WILDS of the Texas Panhandle, it is a 100 mile round trip to see a Dr....so how does one know the mileage they will drive during a years time....they are forcing me to cheat on the mileage...

Hi All

Yes progressive is high but they will give me what I paied for my RV not the 70% less the other ins co's want to give me if it is totaled. If your with progressive fron the start they will give your what you paied after the five year mark before that they will replace it with like kind RV. I will pay a few hundred more and get the cost of the RV back. Change to a new cheeper co. and I will get market value today and you know what that is about 30% to 40% of what your paied for it,not worth the cheeper payments to lose that much money.

Go figure this: I just got a quote from AARP Hartford on the House, was a little over 1500, the agent whom we carry some of our insurance got a quote from Hartford direct it was just around 900 dollars..and I might add was higher values on total loss.
Moral of story don't assume that AARP is going to save you money or do you any favors..JMO

We just got our renewal with Progressive and it was a little over $1700 a year. We do carry full replacement value on it but it is also a class C with a $500 deductible on comp and collision. This is almost three hundred more than last year and that was about three hundred more than the year before. I know living in Michigan adds to it but dag nabbit this is out of control.
