Sorry, haven't been there ourselves, but we did look it up on the web. It looks like a fairly open (i.e. few trees) RV park. Gets decent reviews on rvparkreviews.com - you might check there.

MPNLW44,

My parents live in Golden and I have walked thru on numerous occasions. A great place on the creek in a small town. Walk every place you need to go except for the Grocery. Two blocks from the REC center, a great facility with everything you'd want. Watch the kayaks in the Clear Creek in the shade. NOW all that great stuff aside..It's my understanding that they don't take reservations...City owned first come first served. How long did you wish to stay? If just a day or so en route to another destination..I have just this past July stayed at the Jefferson county fairgrounds. Basically a gravel parking lot with a few sites (about 5-6) along the roadway next to a sidewalk and a grassy area. Nice bathrooms with showers and overall for a couple nights very tolerable, Around 25 a night. Dakota ridge in Golden also very near I-70, Haven't been there myself but From what I hear closer to each other with nice amenities, about 47.00 a night.

Safe Travels,

M.J.McKay

Golden Clear Creek RV Park, Golden, CO

This might not be the CG for everyone but is one of our favorites – in town / Golden and 12 miles from downtown Denver. Can walk into Golden to eat or shop – Right on the Creek – Community center just outside the entrance to the CG in the early summer during the snow melt, they white water raft – once they even had the Junior Olympics for a long weekend. Minutes to Peak to Peak and an Hour to RMNP – Buffalo Bill Cody’s grave up on the mountain, and last but not least Coors Brewery in town. Only a couple hours to Leadville – We Love It.

Only about 20-26 sites, the best ones face the Creek and the sun-rises in the front window – for me it is really all about the Granddaughters they are just 14 miles north in Superior.

Anything else I can help with feel free to pm me.

Not a whole lot of options that close to the Foothills.

Please reply with your favorite RV Parks that are on the banks of lake, rivers or the ocean shore. We are new to RVing and desire to go from water to water if possible. Thank you.

Easy answer for me;

I will only make this suggestion as a point of reference for when you are on the road in the Rockies – Clear Creek Campground Golden, Colorado. This is my all time favorite right on the Creek and in town.

http://ci.golden.co.us/Page.asp?NavID=329

This is an area that is in town, in the Rockies, on a Stream, backs up to a small Lake, are there others? Sure are, Madison Campground in Yellowstone, Rt 128 in Utah along the Colorado River, Turquoise Lake outside of Leadville, CO, Stage Coach SP in North Central, Colorado, Ridgeway SP, CO –I could go on and on but if you are interested in traveling and water is the goal – you will not be disappointed – lot’s of great sites all across the Country. Did I mention Rocky Gap SP, MD or Dana Beach in CA just all over the map.

Couple of shots of the river in Golden;

Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado;

Same day – the kids were loving it!

And a couple of summer photos of Clear Creek when the water is really flowing in June.

Enjoy the trip,

We pulled in for an overnight and stayed for a week. Location is great, hook-ups are suffient and wifi too. Right on the creek and near the park. Not a 'resort' but better than some of the other options out there.
Have fun and enjoy the trip.

We stayed for a week in April of 08. Small park but loved the creek. They had a kiak ( can't spell) coure set up and we watched them all day for a couple of days.
Also enjoyed watching the people that come just to walk along the creek. If you see someone comming with a Lab dog, grt out of the way. Every lab dog we saw just couldn't waite to jump in the water.
Stay You will enjoy it.
