We took our son at 6 months and 1.5 years old. Dress in layers, onsie and socks under footed pajamas ten give them a coupe blankets. There seems to be some built in survival instinct as when it got cold I looked over and he had crawled under a blanket just fine.
I'm thinking you probably can't fit a pack and play in a van so look at setting up one of the vans beds like one. Get the mesh crib bumper and fix it around the mattress of the van to keep her from rolling out of bed.

If a regular Pack n Play won't fit, look for a Graco Travel Lite - it is the same design as a Pack n Play, but much smaller, about 1/2 the size. It might fit. We have one, and love it because it is small enough to fit in the closet in the bedroom of the fiver, so the baby can have his own quiet space without us having to tiptoe around...

Same thing we do at home--we all crawl into the sleeping bag together and go to sleep.
Except my son is two this year and thinks the tent is the worst thing ever, so he won't sleep in one. Just a phase. He'll figure it out.

We took our 1 yr old granddaughter on vacation for 12 days with us. We put her pack 'n play on our bed in our bedroom when it was naptime or bedtime (and we wanted to stay up). During the night we would move her (and the pack 'n play) into the living room. I always get up 1-2 times at night, so I just checked in on her and made sure she was covered up.
Our coach would get down to 60 degrees at night, and our granddaughter wore long pants and long sleeved cotton shirt. She was comfortable, and the trip was a success.
Good luck with your endeavor. It's definitely a challenge when their that young.

we have a 22 month old and the camper we just bought has enough room for a pack and play. we pull the door shut and put the baby monitor in there to watch him and he walks around for a little while then lays down just like at home. now for keeping him warm the fleece jumpers definitely and you can buy a ceramic electric heater for the camper. they have different heat output and sizes. i figure you won't have to worry about running out of propane or CO build up and you can use the electric supplied by the campground (your paying for it anyway).

We didn't take our son when he was that young, but if I were in your situation I'd do what the layers-sayers are saying. Onesie, then pj's with booties, then a blanket sleeper over that. I wouldn't go with a snow-suit because that would be way too bulky. Since you are sleeping in the van, and both of you are sleeping there too, is it possible to run the van off and on all night to keep it warm? Or, are you handy enough to put together a few car batteries, set them outside and buy a 12 volt ceramic heater to run inside? I'd stay away from a Mr. Buddy or things like that due to CO poisoning. You won't want to hook up the heater directly to your van otherwise you may not get the van itself started in the morning.

I didn't even know there were 12v ceramic heaters. I have an extra battery for the van that I am installing right now so it would be great to get a little heater with a thermostat. Any suggestions?

Check out Kidco for the pea-pod for sleeping issues. This is what we use for our twins. We have used it since they were 13months old while camping. We clip the zipper handles on the outside with a plastic clip and they cannot unzip it.
