Looks like my Prodigy brake controller has gone bad. I had a feeling that the thumb wheel adjustment had stopped working. Everything displays normal when connected up to the trailer-but when I go to apply the brakes or manual override - NADA. It just stares at me with the double O.O's. The last time I towed I had turned the adjuster to zero and now it seems stuck there although the wheel still turns. A call to the technical assistance line verified my suspicion. I'm told the Prodigy comes with a lifetime warranty and all I need to do is return it to the authorized Prodigy dealer where I got it and they will do a warranty replacement for me. Unit is about 7 years old. No problems up until now. I'll let you know if they will truly stand behind it.
Anyone else ever have this happen?

Not the same problem, but mine died too. I had no problem replacing it.

I explained to the factory rep that mine was several years old, & heaven only knows where the receipt was. They said take it to any local dealer & have them contact Tekonsha customer service. I did what they said & the local dealer had a weird look on his face but called the factory anyway.

Within a few minutes he handed me a brand new Prodigy controller & I was on my way. Can't beat that kind of service.

sounds like the kind of customer service that wins life long customer loyalty...now I'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on...

Cheers.

UPDATE-

Kudos to the Prodigy manufacture - Cequent and my local dealer-Village RV for doing just as they said. My wife took the unit in to the parts department and came home with a new unit. I installed it last night and sure enough- I've got brakes now!

Again thanks to these two companies for their excellent customer service. There are not many products/companys that say they offer a lifetime warranty on their product AND stand behind it!!

It's better if they don't die while you're attempting to come to a sudden stop behind the state police cruiser who just pulled out in front of you. If it died while your hooking up that might be a blessing in disguise.

rvnit-

Nope-I could not find the receipt. Not needed. The phone number I called to get technical assistance and warranty info was 1-888-785-5832.

Let us know how it turns out.
