I have a beautiful place we go camping at up in the mountains serveral times per year, lakes, spring fed ponds and a creek. Ants are sometimes an issue, yet we don't want to use pesticides around a water shed area, or around our kids and dogs...so this is what I found!
•Perma-Guard Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is totally organic and safe.
•It contains less than 1% percent of Crystallin Silica.
•Some of the uses for Diatomaceous Earth include; household pets, gardens, flower beds, field crops, grain storage, and livestock feeding.
•Diatomaceous Earth is Mother Nature's product with no harm to the environment, pets or to people.
•Diatomaceous Earth is not an earth, it is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one celled plants called DIATOMS.
•Diatomaceous Earth kills by physical action, not chemical, by puncturing the insect's exoskeleton and absorbing the moisture in their bodies. It desiccates the the ants and stops them in their tracks.
Farm Supply Stores, Some Hardware Stores.
"FYI": Diatomaceous Earth sold for swimming pool filters is dangerous to human health, your pets and livestock. It has been chemically treated and heated to change it's composition. It will kill ants and fleas but it might harm your pets!"
I have found pool supply stores that sell bulk Diatomacious Earth that is NOT treated...and thus safe!

this is what we use also - spread it around anything that touches the ground - they will crawl on anything - water hose, sewer hose, tires, we had a table right next tothe moho and they climbed up the legs of the table, then into the moho.
I've read on here about the Terro ant bait containers, so I bought some about 3 weeks ago. The last place we camped had ants everywhere. The ants have took up house keeping somewhere in the camper. I've placed Terro bait containers out and had them out for over 3 weeks and there are still ants......???
