I got 15miles down the road, and turned back for my pillows, no way I'm using the foam sponges they put in the RV's.

On our last trip my DW forgot her shoes. She told me when we were in Marathon TX, about 100 miles from the nearest shoe store. She hiked the steep and rocky Window trail (4 miles long) at Big Bend NP in Flip-Flops - and had the blisters to prove it.

I guess she wanted to get even with me for forgetting the remote control for the TV on the previous trip.

Other notable items not to forget are:

hats
sunscreen
insect repellent
dental floss (You have no idea how important this item is until you are days from nowhere with a piece of meat or corn stuck in your teeth that won't come loose for anything.)
medications and first aid supplies (especially mole skin for blisters.)

I have more than once forgotten my belt. In the summer, I will often be wearing casual shorts with a tie string at the waist when packing, then when getting to my destination, I realize that I am missing my belt needed for other jeans/shorts.
I have gotten pretty creative with a piece of rope so the moon didn't rise early!

We solved the challenge of "what not to forget" by making our maiden voyage a 5 day stay at an RV park that was 12 miles from home in one direction, and 12 miles from Camping World in the other direction,I'll have to say, that we made a couple of trips in both directions.
But if you really, really need/want anything, there will be someplace that you will be able to purchace it.It is discouraging, tho, to have to buy something when you know that you have it available at home,Jumper cables come to mind.

Couple of suggestions for newbies- 1) Before your first trip, take a couple of hours at some large parking lot, and practice backing up into marked out space; 2) Never, never, never un-hook your hitch from your TV without chocking your tires first. I know you would say "no one is that dumb", I seen people get in a hurry and forget it. I'll admit doing it once myself.

Our first trip was in a rental. We were just testing the lifestyle out at a state park for a few days. We forgot towells. All we had was two dish towells for the 4 of us. Found out two things on that trip:
1. We loved the lifestyle and want to buy a camper.
2. Our family can share in a pinch!

First trip in our new to us MH, we under estimated the need for door mats outside and inside. The need to have our own rust-proof grill and not just a vinyl tablecloth but the seat covers too. (rained for 4 days)

Learning how to drive and back the unit up!!
Just look at some of the posts (those that will admit to it) that have backed into something or clipped a fuel pump island!!
