It's a coleman mach 15k model 8335

I think it is just off of warranty by a month so I will have to deal with this myself probably.
I was an electrician for a while but not much experience with AC units past recharging automobile AC.
It does this off of 30 amp supply or my 4k generator.
It will run fine for a while and then cause the breaker to trip or if I have it running on generator it will bog the generator down enough to cause it to shut down. It is the only thing running when the generator is running.

If I let it sit for a few minutes, it will start again and may go for another hour or it may go all day without a repeat.

Any clues on why or what may be the cause?

Please post VOLTAGE seen inside RV when this all happens. Low voltage will obviously cause what you describe.

Possible start capacitor. Does it trip the breaker at start up or when running? Check the amount of amperage your pulling. Below are the specs. You need to check you owners manual/install to check all specs.
If it was a low voltage issue I don't think it would happen with Generator and the 30 amp ac supply.

15,000 BTUH Cooling

5,600 BTUH Heating

Amps Cooling 16

Amps Heating 16

Air Delivery - 325 CFM

Weight 110 Lbs

Dimensions - 13.25'' H x 29'' W x 43'' L

Generator puts out a steady 120 to 120.2 on the fluke and under ac load drops to a steady 118.8

Always after it is running a while.

Happens very sporadically and could go for an hour before happening or several hours -- Once restarted it sometimes won't happen again that day. W When it's on the genset it will not trip the breaker but cause the generator to shut down.

Good voltage....how about the amperage. It shouldn't be pulling more than 16 amps running. Sounds like it's pulling too much amperage and trips the breaker or shuts the generator down.

Since it bogs down the APU, rule out a defective compressor. A defective compressor will usually trip the compressor overload or trip the 20 amp RV breaker for the AC.
I would suspect that the compressor is restarting after the temp has increased and the Compressor start capacitor is failing and drawing a hi long amp. Or the compressor is short cycling because of a faulty Freeze Thermister, which it will have IF you have a wall tstat.
Short cycling is what usually causes a APU to bog down or quit. Doug

Should I try one of the hard start kits for coleman on it? Only 20 bucks so maybe worth a try?

"APPLICATION
This kit is required only when the appliance in question does
not have hard start components and is subject to hard starting
conditions such as short cycling or extreme low voltage.
This kit consists of a standard start capacitor, PTCR start
device, wiring and instructions."

Thanks everyone

I'll clean out the coils tomorrow -- quick visual today on them they looked free of debris but I didn't give them a close look.
