Took a few days to go camping at a local camp ground on the Assateague Island National Sea Shore the first week in Sept. We had a great time stayed to the bay side, Could not get a site on the ocean side they are booked six months in advanced. You can check out the pictures at the sites below.

Nice pictures, glad you enjoyed yourself. We live on the Eastern Shore as well and I like to go there all year around on my days off just to walk around and enjoy the nature and trails. How bad were the mosquitos while you were there? The state park side has some nice sites right beside the dunes and you can hear the waves since the ocean is right there behind the dunes. Loop H I think has electric and those get booked up very quickly lol

We looked at the state side but there are no pets allowed and we carry our two little dogs everywhere we go. The mosguitos where only a little bad one night. the rest of the time they where no problem.

What is really nice about that place is that it is open year round.(Nat. Seashore CG) Nothing like loading up the pooches to head down for the weekend. NO BUGS, the ponies and Sika Deer are always around and it is beautiful to walk or bike around the area. A frequent winter destination for us. Excellent star gazing at night. Swimming is a bit cool though.

I enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for sharing. Assateague is on our list of places to go. I haven't been there since I was a kid.

I really hadn't considered the Fed park, always have looked at the State. Looked great until I saw the picture of that black thing! Of all the times I've been at Rocky Gap SP, Deep Creek SP and Swallow Falls SP, I have yet to see any of their kind.
But, I'm going to have to consider the NP. I've driven through the SP there and wasn't real thrilled with the openness of the park. I see there's at least some trees in the NP side. Gives some privacy.

Thanks for sharing the pics!
