I have a 2008 Itasca Sunstar and my refrigerator will not cool from shore power. We have used the RV (and refrigerator) ~every 2 weeks since we bought it at the end of last year. Up until a month or so ago everything was fine. I park the RV in front of my house, level it and plug it in.

In the past it would take 2-3 hours to get down to 40. Now the freezer cools down but the refrigerator does nothing. I know I am getting power because the A/C, microwave, RV, etc all work while plugged in (and the freezer cools). I even tried changing the outlet I plug in to and that did not help.

However, if I change the switch to gas it works just fine off the LP. It cools down to 40 in 2-3 hours just like it used to do with shore power?

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks.

The Norcold in my 2007 5er had a similar problem, 12 months ago. Contact Norcold to get the nearest, to you, authorized Norcold service center, and get it checked out. Mine had a bad thermistor, and the cooling fan in the back had quit working. It was covered by Norcold's 3-year warranty.

Good Luck.

Poor cooling on AC only could be a heating element if it is a 4 door refrigerator. Chris

I have a Norcold Model 1210IM that is 13 months old. Last week the bottom refrigerator section stopped cooling on LP or AC. The freezer still remained well below freezing and making ice. I called Norcold and they had me unplug the thermistor to by pass it. It did not help, and Norcold then advised me that I had a bad cooling unit that would require replacement. Yesterday, the technician at Tiffin in Red Bay unplugged the 12 Volt source wire to the Control Board and left it unplugged about two minutes. He then reconnected the wire and the refer section began cooling. His explanation was that on a very rare random occasion, the control board will lock up and unplugging the 12 Volt source will reset it. Still currently cooling.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try unplugging the 12 volt source wire to the control board tomorrow when I get my RV back (currently at a Cummins shop for a generator issue). Still seems weird that it works under LP but not shore power.

Interesting I have the 811? Norcold and has experienced the same thing but I am getting a fast flash on both lights on the door which according to the manual indicates it is not able to find AC power. The unit works great on LPG. I unplugged the shore power as suggested below because I know sometime with electronic items that will reset the system. Plugged it back in and it worked great on AC until we left to go to a campground where as soon as I hooked up I got the fast flash and the unit switched to LPG.

Our 07 unit had a bad power cord from the refrigerator to the outlet. We would start on gas and it would not find the electric. When I moved the cord it would recycle back to electric. The cord was replaced and works fine now. Try moving thew cord a round and see if it goes back to electric.

I have found our Norcold to be a bit fussy about voltage. It needs over 108v. Where we usually camp the voltage sometimes drops to just below the fridge limit. On auto the fridge switches to propane lessening the electric load. with less load the voltage comes up a little and the fridge switches to electric increasing the load and dropping the voltage, switching to gas,........

My 611 was flashing both lite on door (can't find 12v)? Thought board was out. Also converter was not charging batteries. Replaced(C section) new upgrsaded converter. Fridge is fine now. Did NOT like 'bad' elec.
