My friend purcahsed a used 2005 Gulfstream and he has been having problems with the jacks. The alarm went off while storing the jacks, he had to strap them up to stop the alarm. Since then he had the springs replaced, but the alarm occasionally goes off. He was told this is normal just to hit store and put the jacks in the off position when the alarm goes off. Is this normal?

Try checking the hydraulic oil in the reservoir. If the oil level is down ,the system assumes the jacks are down and the alarm sounds,

Before his last service (replacing springs) he was having to add oil atleast once every weekend. Not sure if he's still adding fluid every time or not that was one issue he asked the shop to look at. Also no evidence of a leak.

It would help if you post the brand of levelers he has. Power Gear, HWH, Other. They each have a different system for how the "Jacks Down Alarm" works. By posting which system you might get a answer or a fix to the problem. Lots of "Jacks down alarm" posts recently.

1. On my last coach when the alsrm would go off with the jacks up, it was a signal that the fluid was low. That one said to lower the jacks untilthe alarm sounded then add fluid until it stopped. On the current coach, take screw out of weep hole and add fluid until it comes out of weep hole.

2. There have been posts on various board about the tanks for certain jacks being held up by just the weld to to the pump. This weld would crack and leak. Also on this installation the tank isn't always level, so fluid spils out the over flow when the tank "bounces", so you lose fluid with out actually having a leak. The shop that servioces my coach leveled the tank and installed a brace, as have many others.

Thanks everyone. The jacks are HWH. He had been adding fluid every trip before the springs were replaced.
