We're looking at getting an early 2008 Victory Lane 38 SRV. This unit is with the 15" D rated tires (before they made the change at 2008 1/2). Any advice and the rationale as to "yea it's great" or "stay away" would be much appreciated.
By-the-way, our TV is a 2005 F250 SD FX4 with a 6.0 PSD. The exhaust has been increased to 4" pipes and we'll put air bags on the rear.
Thanks,
Peter

I have a Winners Circle 36SRV which is the 2 slide version of your traler. My trailer has a 15.5K Gross weight('07 model with an '08 VIN) if yours is truely an '08 model, it will have an 18000lb Gross and that is two much for the 15" D rated tires, and too much pin weight for your F250 to handle. I will put you way over trucks GVWR and over the rear axle weight and probably your tire ratings too. If your is a 2007 model that has a 2008 VIN like mine I looked at the brochure and they numbers for the 38SRV aren't listed. Sorry to say Peter, I love my trailer as it is very well built(even more so the cheap price), but I'm maxed out on the 15" Duro's at 15.5K lbs and I would not add more weight to that. Also, I would not haul that much weight on an F250 or 2500HD truck.

Thanks for the inputs. I don't think we'll ever load it even close to the GVWR. The dry weight of the 38SRV is listed at 11,815. Figuring toys, fuel, water, food, cloths, etc. I figure we'll load it with about 2,500 to 3,000 pounds. The F250 has a max towing capacity of 15,400 so I'm okay there. The hitch weight is THE issue. Without toys the 38SRV is at 2,772 pounds. The F250 rear GAWR is 6,100 #. I weight the truck at a scale and the rear unloaded weight is 3,000. So it's a little close. However, I don't think I'd take the TH very far without toys which would help counter balance the pin weight. So given these circumstance I would not be over any of the trucks ratings - though I wouldn't have as comfortable margin as I'd like.
What I really don't get is some of the two axle toy haulers - their dry weight and pin weight is similar to the 38SRV. Talk about pusing it!
Oh one other thing. As much as I'd hate spending the money, the first thing I'd probably do is replace the tires with 16" LT E tires. From this forum looks like Michelin is the tire to go with. Man, buying 6 tires and 6 rims is something I'm not looking forward to!
I have a Fuzion and I am in the process of replacing my 15 inch junk D rate tires with 16's with the Michelin XPS Ribs.
Not to be the weight police but I would get the trailer weighed as the "dry" weight is often way off what they claim. I remember a friend of mine bought a WW and the claimed weight was off by 1,300 lbs from what they claimed.
Unsolicited opinion: Way too much trailer for that truck. Remember it isn't about exhausts or chips as that engine could pull twice the weight. it is about stopping it in a panic, heavy winds, etc. I would go DRW and my trailer is only a GVWR of 15,500lbs..
I have a 26srv, Its a 5wheeler with no slides(not to common)I currently have been living in it for 2 and a half years and its been a very good trailer. I was working in nebraska and one night it got down to -25 and nothing froze. Only problems I have had is with the tires, chineese made Duro's. I have since replaced them with maxxis e-rated tire with no problems. Also the shower tub cracked and I ordered a new one from dutchman and made a sub-floor for it using 3/4 inch plywood with 4X4 feet. This seems to have worked well. Made some minor inprovements to make it more like home.

Thanks again for your inputs.

My pin weight is 2900-3200 loaded with toys and without water. Yours will be the same. Unloaded it will be more, and with water, it will be way more. Close to 3.5-4K lbs when all is said and done. WAY to much weight for the axle on your truck. I towed my trailer with a 2500HD, but that was without toys or water and I was close to max axle weight then. Not trying to talk you out of your choice, but maybe a truck upgrade soon. Good luck with the trailer.
