"...this guy must be a complete idiot to send you a message like that and still expect to be walking around loose."
The OP said that he received this in an email from a "friend", not the potential burglar! This warning email has been floating around the internet for some time, but unlike most of the c*** that people post as gospel, it does offer some common sense counsel on how to lessen the chances that your house will be burglarized. And, yes, one does tend to be a *lot* more vigilant about attempting to prevent "unauthorized entry" if one's house/car/RV has been hit before!
8. If you don’t answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.
And if it is locked, you already said you don't mind breaking something to get in. So is it not better to leave it unlocked, and not have to fix the damage?

I used to think the same way, but with the ACLU, and the I'll sue the cr-- out of you mentality I'm not sure my Smith and Wesson insurance policy is the way to go. Maybe I'll get me a pitbull with aids for home defense.lol

I'm looking for someone that breeds pitbulls with a bark that sounds like a slide action shotgun...
Reminds me of what happened to some neighbors in a Seattle suburb some years ago. Most of us were at work, middle of the day, a big van pulls up to their house, two guys in coverall uniforms get out and proceed to empty the house. One neighbor who WAS at home said she thought it was odd that the people hadn't told anyone they were moving. They were out of town when it happened.

If that TV is still there.....where in MO do you live?
As for the OP...yeah, very good points to consider. We've had a few things stolen from the yard or the garage, and you do feel violated. But, I just can't get into the mind set of locking the place down like Fort Knox.
Besides, it's much easier when you don't own anything of value.....or at least give that appearance.
