Wow. Lots of comments in such a short time.

Well, I like it both ways. Some times, I just want to get away and be away from work and away from a timeline. So, I just vedge.

Other times, I go with an organized group or two that I belong to. I like them a lot or wouldn't have applied to join them. Sometimes, tho, I will take a few hours off from them on a trip with them.

Then, there's trips with my buddies. I spend a lot of time with them under the patio awning. I like that a lot, too.

Pick the one that suits you -- or find a balance. There are a lot of great groups out there. Look at Good Sam or FMCA for local clubs.

Enjoy!

Given a choice we probably prefer camping with friends. Alone is get too. The best is to be on the go.

We do not get to go camping very often and usually on short notice.
we mostly go alone so we can do as we please. Once a year at Easter we go camping with my brother, sister-in-law, son, daughter-in-law and grandson for a week. We go to New Melones Lake, near Sonora, Ca and camp at Tuttletown Recreation Area. It is beautiful there. We plan our meals before we go so we have everything we need. We have a motorhome, my brother has a 5th wheel and our son has a tent because that is the only time they get to go camping. Grandson sleeps on our couch. That are 2 other couples that come by and visit for the afternoon sometimes. We enjoy that week very much.

I don't mind the camping with a group, it is the traveling to the campground together that bugs me.

I want to go at my pace and not have to worry about going to slow or to fast for others. I would much rather meet up at the campground.

That is why we normally camp alone, other than the other "new" friends around us if they and we want to get to know each other.

We camp with a group and alos by ourselves, with young kids camping with the group is nice so they all hang together and the adults enjoy fire time together, but we camp alone and have as much fun as well. Guess its a personal preference thing

We like to travel both ways. Sometimes with friends or family.
