I will be in Arizona this January, February and March (Yuma, Tucson and Apache Junction) and am looking for a person or company to apply Liquid Roof to my motor home. It is just a little too big of a project for me. Any information on where to go would be appreciated.

I just did my motorhome (Class C 32') about two months ago, and I can tell it is not a bad job. If you can climb the ladder to get up onto the roof then it will work out great for you. It is a very easy application to put down. I can give you all the details wanted and the prep that needs to be done if you are interested! It took me roughly 2.5 hours to do it, I can place some pics also of the finish product if you want.

Let me know!

Franky14, do you have a rubber or fiberglass roof? We have a fiberglass roof that has a lot of crazing and I've been considering using liquid roof on it. I've had to put Plas-T-Cote on it every two years to seal it and it's getting old.

I have a rubber roof. YOu may want to check with their website. I remember reading somewhere (not 100% sure though) that Liquid Roof is not for fiberglass. I just checked their website and found this: •Adheres to metal, canvas, plywood, foam, cement, sheet rubber, other roof coatings, EPDM, steel, wood and more!
Website: http://www.liquidroof.com/liquid-roof.html

So I could be wrong though I would definitly call them. I had a huge issue with my first 5 gallon bucket about four years ago. I had a lot of "popcorn" effect on the front part of the roof. I discovered it last Novemeber after applying everythingfour years prior. Called the company and we discussed application, mixing and everything else. They agreed to give me a free 5 gallon bucket to replace the first application (again four years old). I WAS VERY IMPRESSED! AWESOME company! So give them a call for correct application. I just placed the new application on mid July so I saw the differences and the errors I made the first time through. Totally different looking roof now from the first time.

I first applied Liquid Roof roughly 4 years ago and made several mistakes which made me redo it this passed July. Some places where I went wrong.

1) Cleaning the roof before hand – Clean with a rubber roof cleaner, DAWN dish soap (light application) and a good brush and make sure you get everything off within reason.

2) Make sure roof is completely dry! Last time I did it I cleaned the roof on a Friday evening and then started first thing Saturday morning! Well, the roof still had morning dew on it! That was part of my fatal mistake. I did use towels to attempt to dry it but it is impossible. This time in July I went out in the afternoon for the application. Roof was totally dry! BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!

3) Mixing – When you mix the application I poured the catalyst way to quick first time. You need a good ½” ELECTRIC drill. A battery drill will never last I do not care who makes it or the battery that is in it. You need the high RPM that an electric provides. One you get a small vortex then slowly pour in the catalyst and really get the sides mixed and move the drill up and down, everywhere and pour slowly! I got rushed last time and thought “THAT WAS GOOD ENOUGH!”

These were the main issues I had above once I spoke to JNK products http://www.jnkproducts.com/liquid_roof/ Where I purchased it! Great company. They are the ones that informed me of my mistakes and gave me a free fie gallon container after 4 years. I noticed that my application after four years was giving a “popcorn effect” on the roof towards the front. That is from a moist roof or bad mixing. I am thinking moist roof since the back part of the motorhome dried out before I applied it.

This application the one in July went much better. Made sure mixing was done 100% from direction and roof was clean and dry! Once mixed the entire roof took me 1.5 hours for a 32’ motorhome and I was working slowly! This product is very easy to use. I used a 3/8 nap roller (2 of them were ready in case the first one got messed up or something). Once this stuff is mixed you have four hours before it is to hard to work worth! I totally rushed last time. I also used a 4” paint brush. That is it! Application was dipping the roller (with extension handle on it) into the bucket (trying not to drip to much, had more issues with roller pan first time through declined to use it this time) and started out in the right hand corner and started to roll! I simply rolled out the entire roof. The AC, vents, sides etc… were done with the paint brush dipped directly into the bucket. Be careful not to paint yourself in a corner!

Once completed have an A frame ladder ready so you can get to the side of the motorhome and look for any spots where it could have been a light application and roll it with your extension handle.

It is easy to do as long as you do not rush it! IT looks great afterwards! If you have any other questions please feel free to ask! I feel very comfortable about doing it and have learned from my mistakes! After the last application!

Last little tidbit – I did all my seams with Eternabond tape. If you are not familiar with the tape do a search on RV.net to see all the great reviews or you can write me back! I did the tape before the first application. Eternabond is permanent, and with the Liquid roof over top no more issues ever!

Good Luck and it will work out great. Please let me knwo if you have any other questions
