I just installed SunGuard windshield covers & used the metal snaps, I am plugged in to 50 amp & when I am on an aluminum ladder I get a pretty good shock when I touch one of the snaps.
Anyone ever experience this?

This should not be happening, and the way you describe it, it is potentially life threatening. I would advise you to have someone who knows electricity find out what's going on and fix it. Immediately.

Any good with a volt/ohm meter? Are you using an extension cord or adapter? Your coach frame is HOT. Causes are mostly from the above or a improper receptical. it can be as simple as the extension cord is plugged in poorly. plugs and recepticals are polerized. one blade is hot, one is neutral (done by size) the last one is ground. if you stick your meter probe into a known good ground (Ie, wet dirt) and the other to bright metal on the coach you can read the voltage. Make it disapear! the problem is real common in older campgrounds.
good luck.
ops! you have 50amp two hots one ground. same problem.

I had this happen and it turned out to be an adapter. It was made in China and the wires inside of it must have been reversed at the factory. When I changed the adapter my problem went away.

Just one snap in particular ? Or all of them ? Might be a screw into a wire.

Start by testing the CG outlet:

outer straights are hot
middle straight is neutral
middle round is ground

So outer to either middle= 120 VAC
middle to middle= zero
outer to outer= 240 VAC

If that is OK, check out same on RV end of shore power cord.

If that is OK, check at ATS.

Here's another current thread talking about probably the same thing Electrical issue - 50 Volts to Ground . Unless as one post suggested you might have been unlucky enough to penetrate a wire with the snap's mounting screw or nail.

Hi cmartin,

So where does one get a NEC approved 120v circuit from using your above statement?

I would measure the voltage from that snap to a good ground on the frame. As others have said, you probably found a wire with the snap screw.
