OK- having some serious difficulties getting my extra DirectTV dish up & going.
I am trying this out before I leave on a trip this weekend. Made the pvc stand seen here that puts the dish upside down. am trying to use an old dish that I dont' use anymore (kept it from an older move). Have a receiver in bedroom that I want to take with me (it works fine). Tried to align dish to correct direction (coordinates taken from DirecTV website & also same as the ones on my other receiver in my house). Have spent over 2 hours pointing dish in every direction possible & cannot get any signal whatsoever. It is sitting next to my home dish pointed in the same direction- but no signal at all.
Any suggestions before I throw in all in the pool???

Hey FootballCamper,
I tried the upside-down setup on my first dish. I went to a verticle mount with the PVC stand and it works great. Still very low-profile and that's with a new Slimline HD dish now... Setup in a couple minutes...

HamsHog, you had set height to 640 and width to 480. The display engined ignores the second parameter. You can leave the height field blank and put 640 in the width field.

Did the same thing with my DISH system when the "upside-down" version was too deep for me to fathom....also works fine with little wind resistance...IMHO, of course

Testing LBN----I had to take it in to a Dish store but I suspect you could go to any Radio Shack store as well.

How do you make adjustments to level your Dish stand?

Personally, in the past 4 years I've been using DISH the levelling has NOT been the critical issue for alignment since the skew in DISH seems to be more for local channels than nationals......just use the signal meter to align sat 110 and then move a little up and west for 119...hasn't taken more than 15 min to set up on most occasions.....compass DOES help.....IMHO, of course

Hey DJGarcia,
I use a torpedo level to get it close.(Move dirt, dig holes, etc.) The verticle PVC post is attached to the dish and just slips in the "T" fitting on the stand. When I did the setup in the pic, I pointed to compass setting,(the other settings are fixed on the dish mount) and within a couple minutes had signals of 95 and perfect HD reception.
