You might be interested in this article I saved a couple of years ago. I saved it mainly because I am interested in the TrueTrac, but the article has some pretty interesting information regarding temperatures before and after adding a Mag Hytec cover, different oils, etc. Note on page two that simply by adding the Mag Hytec cover and changing the oil to LE607, they lowered the differential temp 45 deg.

I like modding my truck too. I don't think it's a waste of money, but even if it was......IT'S MY MONEY TO WASTE!!!!

Had a Mag Hytec installed last week, right or wrong, I had it done. I had already installed the trans pan a year ago and have witnessed a reduction in driving temperatures and faster recovery or reduction of temperatures after a hard climb.

I put on the mag-hytec because I was changing the fluid and did not want to remove the cover in the future. Thanks for the article that confirms the capacity and cooling benefits with real tests. BTW I have truetrac front and rear and they are the very best IMO. No other differential transfers torque and differentiates at the same time like truetrac. I have been a few places my stock 4wd with rear traction lock would not go but with the pair of truetrac it was easy.

The only trouble with wasting money is it gets harder to trade it off when it is set up just the way you like it.

DJ, I say do it. I added a Mag cover and the temp gauage and have never regreted it. Besides, having another gauge is just cool anyways.

I had a Mag Hytec cover on my old F250 V10. I like their products, nice quality and I like the fact you get a lot of extra capacity. I verified about a 30-50 degree reduction in temps depending on conditions, so that's a pretty significant reduction. I'll put one on my chevy 2500 when it comes time to change the diff fluid.

DJ, I hear ya! That's what's so cool about this country. We all can pick and choose what we wanna do and what toys/accessories we want to use on our personal property!

Happy camping and good luck with what your searching for regarding your truck's aftermarket products!
